Remnants of the old salt mining operation back in the early 1900s.

Wasn't planning a sunrise ... but there you go... Killalea and a brief stop at the shallows on the way home..

Come away with me.

I find it very strange thinking about not being here any more ,bitter sweet and it kinda makes me sad but I'm also happy to go home to my family ,family is the most important thing in this life and i will look at life in a different way now i think ,thanks to this experience here in Norway <3

"Welcome Home"

Barnes County, North Dakota

March 2022

An abandoned farmstead near me. I actually watched the demolishing of it and maybe controlled burning too when I was a youngin.

It was always abandoned and of course the property has

been overgrown as long as I've known it, but it is fascinating to look back at historical atlases of the land and also find historic aerial imagery.

Especially fascinating to me as farms such as this were settled around the time of my own family entering the exact area. Or perhaps a family would claim this land to develop in the near future as they proved up on there most current investment.

You recognize surnames, family lines and ties.

Breaks your heart a bit for the family and history when I see the loss of a farmstead, but if I don't know the circumstances, it's quite subjective.

I appreciate it all the same

Someone is piling junk within, but you can also see tiny dots of Canadian Geese traveling over beyond the trees. They've been active

Missing our boy while we're in Wisconsin for a wedding. Jasper's been with some neighbors for a week now, but we'll be home tomorrow. This was actually shot before we left, but I know it will be one of many "come on lets play" scenes when we return, Monday.

It's cold and gray and not much sun shine at Lake George, winter has come early.

Some weeks ago, I went to visit Nate while he was taking a pic in this cool sci-fi set. He was looking so ready for action that I couldn't resist to take one too :D

This little Stoat has recently been put in the enclosure on show to the public and it is just gorgeous.

Just like a normal Stoat it will wiz around so fast you can just about see it, but the difference with this one is it will suddenly pose for you for quite a long time.

I stood watching it for hours (yes I know how sad) and loads of people got great shots.

I smell autumn in the air. it may come gently this year.

Not every coin is like another coin...

The new toonies that were minted for the 150th birthday of Canada are the first coins in the world that are in regular circulation...and they glow!

It took me a while to find one and I immediately set out to test the cool feature. A 4-second exposure in the dark resulted in this image, proving that you may find your pocket glowing in the dark. That is if you are one of the lucky ones who comes across one of the 3 million of these. I am not sending this coin into circulation.

I typically do my own makeup, but this closeup from a long-ago photoshoot with the fabulous Amanda Richards captures ( I think!) a different look than my typical smiley self! Seductive, maybe . . but regardless, I think that in the absence of a smile, the eyes and the parted lips send a very definite message.

Amanda was a genius in eliciting different looks, and although this isn't my "go-to" expression, I think she succeeded in capturing this bedroom-eyes invitation.

I hope you agree! :-)

Super Shooter

100 Chocolate Film

I love this Polaroid. Could be the chocolate film, could be the old church itself, or maybe its just how even the lights look like little crosses. Whatever it is, this was one of my favorite Polaroids taken at Heritage Village that day.

Come on lets take a walk to........

When it comes to intelligence, the Raven rates up there with chimpanzees and dolphins. In one logic test, the raven had to get a hanging piece of food by pulling up a bit of the string, anchoring it with its claw, and repeating until the food was in reach. Many ravens got the food on the first try, some within 30 seconds. In the wild, ravens have pushed rocks on people to keep them from climbing to their nests, stolen fish by pulling a fishermen’s line out of ice holes, and played dead beside a beaver carcass to scare other ravens away from a delicious feast.

At sunrise the sky of Garibaldi Lake was mostly blue, but as morning progressed patchy clouds appeared everywhere and were reflected in the beautiful water of the enormous lake. Early morning light filtered through gaps in the clouds help create this beautiful grand landscape.

The surface area of Garibaldi Lake is 2,460 acres. By way of comparison Snow Lake close to Snoqualmie Pass and another very large lake is only 153 acres. The lake was born when Mt. Price and Clinter, the somewhat reddish peaks pictured on right, erupted forming a large lava dam 980 feet in thickness which coincidently is also about the depth of the lake. In this image you can see some of the loose lava rock from this dam around the shoreline of the lake.

A quest for new horizons has brought me here. Freed from any preconceptions of what this place may be like, I was able to experience this area with more like the eyes of a child. In fact, in BC I am more like a kid in a Candy Store! So many new places and adventures in the roads and trails ahead! This will not come at the expense of my beloved Washington-I also love returning to the intimately familiar. Nature knows no boundaries. The US Canadian border is an invention of the political mind of humans, not something that originated organically through the actions of nature!

does it really all come from above?

Anyone remember that song:-

There's a lovely moon out there

Under grey skies and crisp air, every tree comes to bloom. Dear Autumn, hurry back.

While I got out twice for Autumn shooting last year, it hardly felt like enough. I have a few pieces from here and there from last year's haul that I will pick through as the season nears.
