A few days ago I shot an eastbound at the elevator in Spruce Grove from the air. I returned recently to see if there was a west bound shot at the same location in the afternoon. I find both shots just a little cluttered, but the area around the tracks has gone from elevators to industrial land, while the city skyline is slowly modernizing.
Palomino Valley in Washoe County, Nevada. I wonder how long it will be after the election before this election sign is taken dow. There were places with over 20 election signs in a row at some crossroads.
Hey everyone! Here is a small Moc that I recently built. I wanted to make it full of lumber and I think it turned out great.
On a small plot of land in a rural area, a vacant old yellow house is surrounded by remnants of lives that once gave vibrancy to a family farm. Sometime in the past, the last load of belongings was packed up and the inhabitants left, perhaps for a newer place in town or maybe they were an old farm couple who were having trouble coping and were moved into a care home as they left behind a lifetime of memories.
The quietness now on this home site is interrupted only by the carefree singing of birds and the occasional pickup clanging past on the nearby gravel road on its way into the nearest town.
We can almost trace the saga of lives on a farm by the sounds. When a farm couple gets married and first starts out, the sounds are minimal other than those coming from the animals or farm equipment. But gradually as the years pass and children are born, the sounds we hear and associate with the home are the sounds coming from the contented play of the children or from the inevitable squabbles that interrupt the tranquility.
Sounds associated with the children change over the years, first are the muted sounds of small children. Soon there are sounds associated with riding bikes, 4-wheelers, snowmobiles and finally, vehicles that take the teenagers increasingly to and from activities off the farm.
But without warning the sounds cease as the last child leaves the nest and suddenly the parents are left alone again. The outdoor noises now revert back to basic farm sounds from the cattle and farm equipment and the infrequent murmuring outdoor conversations of the aging couple.
The final sounds heard come from the day the adult children and the grandchildren help pack up the folks and move them to their last home even as they leave behind cluttered rusting memories.

With a lot of track work taking place on the north end of the railroad the ONTN has been set to nights/evenings instead of it's normal daylight schedule. The dumpsters in front of the Carland Elevator are from the track work going on in the area.
I get a thrill moving about creeks and all knowing that soon a large waterfall will hold my attention shortly. In the meantime, I like to savor every sight and sound these beautiful forests give to me!
This scene never gets old and never looks the same twice. Usually you have a nice clean view across the Island End River at the tracks running along the docks. But on this morning there was a tug boat and two other vessels lashed up making for a cluttered but visually interesting scene. I'm standing in the lovely Mary O'Malley State Park in Chelsea shooting across to Everett as CSXT (ex Pan Am) local BO-1 with GP40-2LW MEC 507 (GMDD blt. Jul. 1974 as CN 9472) runs light down to gather up cars from Ciment Quebec and Schnitzer Northeast to pull.

I will be off Flickr for a couple of weeks and look forward to seeing more of your photos when I return.
