One candle for Looking Close... on Friday! It was time I lit this candle. I don't know how long he has been with us, but he has been unpacked and packed up for many years now. It must be a childhood thing, I remember the disappointment of how quickly these novelty candles disappeared once lit after the excitement of finding them in my Christmas stocking, so find it hard to let them go now!!! I need therapy!

Hare in profile, from a close encounter with a group fairly recently. Last time I saw them they all bolted immediately, which just goes to show how whimsical they can be. View large for eye detail!

This is a close-up photo of patterns in a piece of kelp that I held up to be backlit by the evening sunlight.

In my experience Elephants, like people, are easy to read. Aggression is generally only the outcome if you refuse to respect their boundaries.

A Common Tern fly close and attacking photographers who were walking too close to their nesting area at Nickerson Beach in Long Island, NY.

Common Terns have long, narrow, angular wings and pointed wingtips. Unlike gulls, the Terns have a straight, slender bill. The tail is forked and the legs are short.

They are pale gray overall with a black cap. Breeding birds have a fully black cap that extends to the back of the neck and a gray belly. They also have an orange bill tipped in black and orange legs. Non-breeding birds have a white forehead a partial black cap, and black legs and bill. They also have a black bar across the shoulder known as a carpal bar and dark trailing edges on the wingtips as seen in flight.

Tern fly gracefully with rowing wingbeats over open waters, diving down to pick fish from or just below the water's surface. They are vocal and gregarious birds that make their presence well known.

I don't think that the small screens of our mobile devices do a justice to this photograph... just an observation ;-)

Northern Gannets are very gentle and affectionate towards their partners. Sometimes the lifelong bond between the breeding partners seems almost tangible.

I have not before been able to get this close to a wild Pheasant. I tried to stalk it and got reasonably close but it was turned and walking away, while keeping watch. It was heading toward where my wife was waiting for me and moved closer to her than it was to me. I thought I would try sitting motionless and asked Annette to slowly approach the bird, and the strategy worked. It slowly walked towards me, seeing Annette, who was the one moving, as the threat.

I know that is not so polite to overlook or overhear the conversation of some strangers... actually I was interested in shooting this beautiful small fountain near Via Babuino but “the laws of street photography” and very “speakable” poses of those men made me break the rules of politeness, especially it was “the time of closing arguments”...

The golden time of the evening had but a minute or two left when CP 255 made its appearance. By the time the near 7500 foot train passed, the sun went behind the horizon so this was as close as it gets. The SD60, CP 6248 glows in the last rays of the day as it heads eastward up the Galt sub at the 7th Concession in Puslinch.

This is a friend of Taty holding her newly delivered turquise crystal skull while Taty was taking photos of both. It was a month or so ago, but I thought to place these now here and wish you a great blue Monday and a superb week ahead from me Willem and Taty.

No Post Processing used - no treatments, no cropping, and as is from the camera. The only thing added is the water mark - signature.

Georgina is featured in this clip, she doesn't appear to like tour helicopter noise, they run up and down the coast. She did come rather close to me I was prepared with bear spray, fortunatley not required. This day I was shooting by myself so I'm sure she was a little more comforatble than pervious days.
