This one foot long blue tongue lizard was wandering our streets in the middle of the roadway, so I gently nudged it in the direction of some safer garden areas, but it came straight back out onto the pathway again. I wasn't really very close taking this - minimum focus distance is 20 feet, but I got as low as I could for the shot. I made sure it moved back to safety again.

Looking Close ... on Friday

This Black vulture (Coragyps atratus) was more interested in the 'former racoon' than me. There were several around but this fellow was almost too close. The Springfield Nature Center's 'Circle of Life' was quite evident.

New Holland Honeyeater (Phylidonyris novaehollandiae)

This is a close-up photo of rusting, weathered details on an old train engine at the Railway Museum in Musquodoboit Harbour.

Did you know....The peanut was probably first domesticated and cultivated in the valleys of Paraguay....

A close up shot of a group of beach huts at Southwold.

In my garden taking pictures of little birds at my bird feeding place, this jackdaw with an attitude was so close that my 600mm prime lens could only take a close-up of this black bird species.

Since the return of the 218s to the Regensburg - Hof line, Reuth bei Endorf has become one of the most popular photo spots in Germany. The location had been on my list for a long time, and with two sunny weekend days I finally made the trip.

About a dozen photographers were assembled for the afternoon RE2 4863. It was a tense wait as a freight was approaching from behind, the signal already showing HP1 (clear). Thankfully the RE2 showed up first, about a minute before the freight!

Great crested grebe

A couple of shots taken as low as i could manage on the boardwalk at high tide. I guess the only way i will ever get lower will involve chest waders and or a right angle veiwfinder attatchment. Every inch closer improves separation

Hard to Believe this is a Scene really Close to Home here in Southern California, 10 minutes from home in Irvine there is some nice woodland brush areas and sometimes when I'm home I venture out early morning on the Weekends, and when the Fog rolls outs it creates a nice atmospheric scene

Of the Red-shouldered Kind. We were watching this young fella in the tree when he decided to fly down and past us, so close I couldn't focus on him in some frames!

This weeks "Macro Mondays" Theme of "Closed" had me unsure of what to photograph for a while. I was a little uninspired. I had a look through the photos today and saw a few thoughts I'd had already represented with some good photos.

I then decided to make my son's drinks bottle my subject and use a technique I'd used recently for the "Wheels" theme to actually close the bottle during the exposure and have it closed by the end. I also incorporated the "Complementary Colours" theme into the photo and selected a Green background with texture.

I do like photos with motion blur so I was happy to try this again.
