United nations conference on climate change, COP21, is happening these days in Paris.

This photo shows the climate changes taking place: I shoot this little grebe at the lakes of Colbricon, in the heart of the Dolomites, in August, at an altitude of 1927 meters, where it had nested (the couple had 2 chicks). Usually little grebes do not nest above 500 meters, and in any case in 50 years that I frequent the area I had never seen one. In the same period I saw a couple of grey herons at the Calaita lake, at over 1600 meters above sea level: even in this case I had never seen herons in the area.

Apparently the higher temperatures, especially at night, and the frequent thermal inversion are changing the habits of the fauna...

I'll be in Melbourne this afternoon with some of my FFF friends marching in the Global Climate Strike today. I've been marching for years to get better policy and action on climate. Perhaps Australia will wake up to the actuality of what current policies are doing to the land, sea, native animals and people. One can only hope, protest peacefully, plus take individual action. globalclimatestrike.net/

Aruba, a small island in the Dutch Caribbean off the coast of Venezuela, has a dry climate, sunny beaches and gentle waves. Constant winds produce a cool breeze and tilt trees (like the famous divi-divi) to the southwest. The European influence appears in the architecture, characterized by the Dutch gables painted in tropical pastel tones. This is also evident in the coexistence of the local language, Papiamento, with English, Dutch and Spanish. The country does not have fresh water but it has desalinated water of excellent quality and you can safely drink tap water. The small country is a major producer and exporter of aloe vera (aloe vera) and is strong in the financial and fishing sectors, in addition to logistical services in the oil sector. It is a small island with a lot of sun and wind all the time, which favors the country's main economic activity, tourism. Its area is 179 km2 (69.1 mi2) and is densely populated by approximately 110,000 inhabitants (2020 Census) and has a per capita income of just over US$25,000 p.a. The country's capital is Oranjestad.

kkkk um

Capitol Climate Action Activists stand before Federal Police blocking the gates of Capitol Power Plant in Washington, DC, March 2, 2009. More than 2,500 former coal miners, ministers, mothers, students, and climate activists, representing over 40 states from Arizona to Appalachia, successfully blocked all five entrances to the Capitol Power Plant for nearly four hours today, forming the largest display of civil disobedience on the climate crisis in U.S. history.

"Act Like Your House Is On Fire .... Because It Is" is taken from a speech by Swedish Climate Activist Greta Thunberg who inspired the recent School Strikes for Climate globally.

This week, around the world, Extinction Rebellion have been staging more protests. Those in my city appear to be only drawing negative response from the press for their disruptive methods.

It is so distressing to see the actual cause get so little air-play or commentary, or response from the government. I fear the house is on fire and the fire brigade is nowhere to be seen.

A Photoshop creation obviously.

Try THIS! Much better/sharper than the flickr VR viewer! Although the projection is the same.

This NASA visualization for the National Climate Assessment released on May 6 shows how average temperatures in the U.S. will increase 5 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century if carbon dioxide emissions continue current trends. It is based on a NOAA analysis of climate model data.

The National Climate Assessment is specifically focused on providing information about the impacts of climate change on the U.S. NASA supports this effort and contributes a global perspective through its satellite missions and science. NASA scientists study global and U.S. influences on temperature, including greenhouse gases, clouds, fine particle pollution and solar activity.

NASA scientists are also studying how rising temperatures in the U.S. and around the world will impact agriculture, extreme summer heat waves and public health.

Increasing carbon dioxide emissions from human activities remains the primary driver of Earth’s rising temperatures. This summer NASA will launch the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2 (OCO-2), to make continuous global measurements of atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Balkan countries, especially Serbia and Bosnia have been hit by severe flooding, which has been the worst in the past 120 years. Thousands of people had to be evacuated and are left without homes. It dates from the XII century, it belonged to the Císter's order, who owned the land thanks to the privileges granted by kings as, for instance, Alfonso IX.

During its epoch of magnificence the influence of this monastery went so far as to conditionate the

future of other monasteries in the area, as it is the one of San Clodio. Towards the end of the XIX century, it fell into decline, basically due to the effects of the ecclesiastical confiscation and adverse climate conditions. Nowadays it is in private ownership.

The church, of latin cross, presents three longitudinal naves with semicircular apses, the chapel's head is made of a major chapel surrounded by an ambulatory, opened to three semicircular apses which convey to the major altar. This model of head, which is unique of Galicia, recalls, by its likeness with the monastery of Oseira, to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The style of the Císter's order is easy to notice in this monastery due to its remarkable austerity.

Innocent citizens are being chased by dinosaurs

Winters white contours and folds, as you've guessed I can't get enough of this landscape when the opportunities are ripe. Is there climate change happening during my short stint with digital photography? Possibly!

Indeed chinook winds are obliterating snow packs and leaving dusty main streets in Southern Alberta. The odd sliver of filthy ice remains. Snowblowers sit idle. A transition into blandness.

Northern Alberta is a place snow boarders nestle into cabins for free. Powder clings so thick, it's becomes a reinvention of hoar frost. The crystalline texture is amazing. For those who venture on clear cold days, invigorating breathing is always a rural road turn off any main highway.

The prairie landscape is changing gradually and inevitably. Markers you once thought as familiar, such as hopeless tilted barns and inclined lathe cardboard houses vanish, you simply reorientate with another dotted beacon.

While changes are invariably happening globally, I also listen to the voice that underscores the climate of change within the photographer, and nowhere do I hear that call more clearly than spaces such as these. Remember the hot tea and snacks.

Wishing you a weekend my friends filled with clarity and a blank "open" visual canvas.

ODC-What Is There To Be Afraid Of

I think this year more than ever we're seeing the devastating effects of Climate Change. I know the west coast is burning up and over here in the east we are inundated with excessive amounts of moisture and flooding! it's truly frightening how extreme the weather is becoming. climate.nasa.gov/evidence/

The black smoke of the ship is extremely harmful to the environment, and with its effects on climate change and our natural biodiversity is also threatened for this. We should focus on environmentally friendly commuting.
