Ensley High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Founded in 1901. This building was built in 1908. The school closed after last year and will merge into the new Jackson-Olin High School this fall.

He also remembers pictures displayed on the wall, among them one of Adolphe Crémieux, French Minister of Education. (This was a lycée, after all, and French is still the second language here.) We now know two of the descendants of said Adolphe Crémieux, Alain--who is married to old pal Christine Leroux--and their son, the inimitable Matthias!

This desk arrangement was new in March. There are 30 desks total in the room because of home room, though my biggest class is 20 students. And the best thing about the IWB is that the projector is now mounted on the boom. The easel was a hand-me-up from 2nd grade.
