View through a dirty windscreen on a Class 40 ( 180 ) approaching Helsby in March 1982 . We were waiting for the Class 40 in the distance to clear as we were going to UKF ( Shellstar ) which was off to the right - about 1 mile away . Further down past Shellstar was the Stanlow oil refinery , Ellesmere Port - and if you carried on - Hooton I only took this to use up the roll of film and how I wish I had taken the camera with me more - a lot more !

Playing with Lego Digital Designer recently I decided to do something other than trying to re-create buses in brick form and turned to something rail-based instead. It was a pain doing the initial chassis as the normal Lego bogies didn't seem to be on there so I made my own. Annoyingly this upset the entire shape of the model as they were too small and the chassis I found was a bit short.

Making it up as I went along the rail chassis turned into a class 20 of odd proportions.

The hardest part was getting the roof to meet comfortably with the 'nose' end, I eventually settled for the curved bricks in the configuration they are here, only sacrificing the horn grille for it to work.

So despite being a bit too short and with ridiculously small bogies, here's a Lego class 20!

My favourite viewpoint on the BKR. Here the class 40 diesel 40135 is pulling the HST prototype at about 20mph past Kinneil & about to accelerate to gain momentum for the forthcoming climb to Birkhill. I do not know why the class 40 is there other than for show since the HST is capable of moving itself & there is a class 37 out of shot bringing up the rear. Talk about belt & braces! Sorry for the water drop on my lens. We had some typical Scottish liquid sunshine today.
