I was stopped by campus police while taking this photograph. I wasn't bothered too much they just wanted to know what I was doing. I told the officer I was taking pictures and he looked at me funny and asked, "for what?" I'm sure he had no clue what my large format camera was.
The CLA Building is the most noticeable structure on campus. It can be seen for miles from the nearby freeways. It has been in a couple movies; Gattaca and Impostor, and several commercials. The building apparently has had problems since its inception and in order to make repairs the university would have to bring it up to seismic code, which would be very costly. It appears that the university is planning on tearing it down and starting fresh rather than incur the costs necessary to bring the building into compliance.
Fresh repair and CLA. Started out as a junker. The advance would wind but the shutter wouldn't fire. The battery tab had corroded off and fell into the wind mechanism and bent them both. Had to figure out and repair all that, then clean the shutter mechanism and the rangefinder. Works great with a 675 zinc air hearing aid battery. Pay no attention to the finger prints ;)
