Well I wanted to make a "Lin" card. When I think of Lin ...I think of blue and flowers, so off to my supplies I go....only to find out I dont have blue paper, just turquoise lol! It is in the blue family right??? I also know Lin is a fellow quilter so I added some stitching to look like patchwork quilting for my colour blocks.

The tag was made with the new water stamping technique I learned from Jennifer in her Thinking Inking class Part 1.

I am having fun playing with my new silhouette grass stamp...I made this card for my DH's birthday.

I was inspired by Jacqueline's beautiful card seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/25616484@N08/4431335183/in/faves-25...

I first masked the edges of the card to make a "frame." I inked the grass with walnut stain distress ink and misted it with water before stamping. Then I stamped the native grass using cotton candy rainbow ink, sometimes without reinking. I also stamped the real wild poppy twice using shadow inks (leaf, vanilla). I stamped the sentiment with walnut stain ink, used black and peach blo-pens round the edges, and attached the butterfly (stamped on pp and Stickled around the edges), adding black pearls to the body.

Thanks for looking!

This card was inspired by the popular Leaf Clusters card on p. 39 of the catalog. I love the look of white embossed text against the wash of color, so I used similar techniques here. I white embossed part of the Old Letter Writing stamp on watercolor paper, then used a paintbrush to apply distress inks to the background before waterstamping the Wildflower Garden. I used cerulean and daffodil layering papers and Hero Hues mixed accents to finish it off. The white border across the card is a rub-on. Thanks for looking!

Having sooooo much fun getting all inked up playing with my new Design block stamp Dots and Flowers and Tim Holtz inks :)) I am so not getting anything done around the house THIS week!!! Off to try this in a different colour way :)))

Ink colours: Faded jeans, broken china, peeled paint, and walnut stain.

I can't stop play with my new chinese doll stamp.

CL139 for the sentiment

I wanted to try to create one of the FUN CIRCLE cards that I've seen......I do like these little cards so much! Used my CLASSIC LARGE NESTIES CIRCLES as the base and also the portion that I stamped on. Also for the "sun" sentiment. Used Swiss Dots CB folder, too. As for the images, all Hero Arts CL139 Birthday Messages, Clouds S5215,Sending Happy Thoughts CL305, Friendship Messages CL046, Black Gems CH139.Oh, I did use Prisma color on the frog and THANK YOU "LU FAMILY" without your generosity, I couldn't have created this card!!.......guess that covers it. Thanks for looking. Love, Karen

Just a quick card for me...couple hours LOL! Used some left over elements from previous cards.....LOVE using up scraps!!! Don't think this really qualifies for the challenge of using backgrounds stamps "uniquely", but I added it anyway :)

HA stamps: Hugs and Hearts, Four Leaf Grid, Dots and Flowers, Birthday Messages, and Screen Shadow.

Tim's inks for the background of the Four Leaf Grid white embossed pattern.

Sketch: CPS

I created a similar card here, but wanted to try stamping the tulips on vellum. I didn't like the way the vellum oval looked against the purple, embossed background, so I layered it onto a smaller, white oval first.

Thanks for looking! :)

The tutorial this week at Splitcoaststampers is on making rolled paper flowers. It looked so easy I just had to make some. Definitely easy peasy! Combined the flowers with the Write Your Own cling (was inspired by Lorena - paperella - to get that stamp out!) and a sentiment from Birthday Messages. Patterned paper is from Websters Pages.

I started to stamp the flourish S5449 with perfect resist and than sponged the background with distress inks. The grass S5316 is stamped with versamark and white embossed. Than added grasses CL430 with different distress inks. Inked a piece of paper with blue shimmer mist and stamped the small butterflies (CL383) and cut out and added a clear pearl with the pearl maker pen.

The happy birthday text is also stamped on the shimmer misted paper.

The second card in my manly fern set.

HA stamps: S5154 Three Ferns, S5101 Raindrop Backgroind, and CL139 Birthday Messages.

Same embossing withTim Holtz distress powder peeled paint, used with inks Broken China, Walnut Stain and Frayed Burlap.

These complete the Heroes cards drive from me.

Got my new frame cut dies yesterday so had to use them! Lovely HA pp.

Decided to turn it into a shaker window card. Not too sure if I like it??? Would love your opinions ! Thanks :)

Used Picnik collage...easy peasy :)

Stamped the Stitched Hearts on pink Basic Grey paper and cut out, sanded and highlighted with white pen. The bunny was stamped on Kraft cardstock, coloured with a white pencil and cut out.

Just sharing a card I made for Virginia's "Beat the Winter Blahs" challenge. The flower stamp is from Magenta but It does also have two HA stamps, the sentiment and Flowers & Dots (hard to see on the yellow).

I figured I could beat the blahs with some bright and cheery colours. I coloured some paper with India Ink and embossed the flower twice in white ep. I curled the leaves for some dimension and added some paper layers and the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!

It has been all of six cards since I last used the Large Flower stamp, so I just had to ink it up again! The flower is embossed in white, covered with distress inks (shabby shutters and broken china) and has four layers. The scallops and sentiment were also embossed in white and covered with worn lipstick distress ink. For the card itself I lightly applied shabby shutters and broken china distress inks to white card and splattered water on it. Just did some machine stitching and added some beads to finish.

A side view of the flower is here www.flickr.com/photos/38067075@N02/4681819833/

Thanks to Deirdre's suggestion, I've also entered this into Paperplay's challenge this week, Flowers and Sparkle Galore, paperplaychallenges.blogspot.com/2010/06/10-week-22-flowe...

I made this card for the current Hero Arts challenge as well as Anne's "Bling, Glitter, Shimmer and Shine!" challenge. It's a one-layer card; I double stamped the silhouette grass, first in soft leaf, then again in cotton candy rainbow ink. I added icicle stickes to the grass for some sparkle and texture.

Thanks for looking!

Yeah, I finally got my HA order with some new stamps! I made this card for my dad, his birthday is coming up in February.

The background is sponged with distress inks and the grass (love this stamp) was black embossed. I printed off a dragonfly from the Winged Friends digi kit on a transparency and added stickles to it.

I was so impressed with the fluffy flower on Lucy's card so I checked out the video instructions by Dawn at Raspberry Suite. I decided to add the flowers to a birthday tag for the Tag Tuesday at Kard Krazy. The theme is birthday because it's Louise's birthday today, sending wishes for a wonderful year!

I had a ton of fun with this week's challenge!

I was inspired by Linda's card:

www.flickr.com/photos/bearpaw14/3638586708/

I used the "Birthday Wishes" stamp from the Birthday Messages set #CL139.

Thanks for the inspiration Linda!

I am also using this as one of my "birthday card" entries in the Gallery Idol contest!

Shanna ♥

I made this card based on Card Patterns’ sketch 57

The poppy image, branch background and scallops are embossed with enchanted gold (lovely and shimmery in real life but so hard to photograph!). I coloured the poppies with markers and the stems with watercolour pencils. The two bigger flowers are layered for some dimension.

Made this a little while ago for Caardvarks' Purple Onion Design window cards challenge. I put a few layers of clear embossing powders on the squirrel and the cloud ballon as Jennifer McGuire demoed for the faux epoxy look.

Have you guys seen the winner of this challenge? THAT is an awesome card!! So artistic and pretty.

TFL. =)

NOTE: Since DH's birthday(7/27) is so close to our 1st anniversary(7/31), I decided to cheat and give him this card for his b-day... We both love squirrels and think he will love this even though he has already seen it...

I love the effect of the resist techniques that Jennifer has been showing us on the blog this week. So I thought I’d do some resist on this card.

I wanted to make a kind of stormy summer sky for the background so I embossed the grass in white on watercolour paper. Then I dabbed distress inks (shabby shutters, broken china and faded jeans) onto a piece of tinfoil and spritzed with water. I placed the embossed image in the ink, and hoped for the best as this was my first time trying this technique! The first attempt turned into a blobby mess so this is the second attempt.

A while ago I had dabbed alcohol inks and blending solution on glossy paper. When they didn’t blend and looked awful, I realised that I had used photo paper which wouldn’t work. I saved the paper anyway and stamped these dragonflies on it. For the card itself I embossed the Raindrop Background in white and applied faded jeans distress ink. I did a little bit of stitching on this card so I’m also entering the card into Jenny's Challenge #10 (In Stitches) suchins.blogspot.com/2010/06/challenge-10-in-stitches.html.

It's a dull day here today, so a dull photo I'm afraid! My blog stampingandstitching.blogspot.com/

A Happy Birthday card based on this week's sketch #3. Patterned paper is Basic Grey. Distressed with Walnut Stain and Peeled Paint distress inks. TFL!

This started off as an attempt at colour layering but I seem to have veered off in another direction altogether! As kids we used to play in the fields near home for hours on end in the summer. The fields always seemed to be full of poppies, butterflies and ladybirds so that’s what I wanted to put in my summer card.

For the background I sponged distress inks (broken china, antique linen, shabby shutters and mustard seed) on white card. The wheat is stamped with antique linen and I embossed the seed heads with enchanted gold. I coloured the poppies with markers, added beads to the centres and used yarn (white yarn coloured with a green marker) for the stems. I applied glossy accents to the ladybirds. A close up is here www.flickr.com/photos/38067075@N02/4729640437/ as I can’t seem to catch the sheen of the ladybirds and glisten of the seed heads in the main photo.

Every once in awhile, I feel the need to play with the Hydrangea. I stamped the image several times using Vintage Photo ink, then colored them with a mix of water and Tattered Rose and Bundled Sage.

The textured piece is from a pack of cards that Dawn sent to me awhile ago, and I just cut one of the cards apart to use for stamping the Hydrangea on. . . . .Love these, Dawn!

Thanks for looking! :)

This layout is for my dear friend Kari. I met Kari approximately seven years ago when I was interviewed for my job at the local college. Kari & I became fast friends & we continue to work alongside each other. Kari is beautiful, creative, intelligent & a great listener. I was blessed the day I walked into that interview...love you Kari!

My first attempt at a window card....It was fun!! I tried to keep the design simple, but the funny thing is that I used more stamps sets then ever before :)) TFL

HA stamps: CL281 Whimsical Frames, CL301 Hugs and Hearts, CL298 Scattered Leafs, CL139 Birthday Messages.

A card combining several challenges. I used the color combo from the current Play Date Cafe' challenge (blue, green & cream) for the card. The card also fits with Jenny's challenge to have writing on your card, suchins.blogspot.com/2010/05/time-for-new-challenge-and-w..., and fits the current HA challege. Cardstock is PTI kraft & cream; pp is DCWV Mariposa mat stack. I stamped the Hydrangea stamp on the light green pp with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed using vanilla embossing powder and then trimmed out. The butterfly was cut from the blue pp. Added a few teeny tiny rhinestones.
