The time between afternoon golden hour and evening twilight, which I call the 'Yuck Hour' (or 'The Lull'), can be quite interesting, despite the flat light.

There is a sense of serenity, and the pastel colours of the increasingly darkening sky in the east blend with the intense yellow, orange and red colours of the western sky to create a sense of serenity before the magic of twilight.
