The awesome location of Castlerigg stone circle close to Keswick in the lake district.
A location that provides a spectacular vista to see some of the most majestic fells in the lake district.
I chose this lesser used viewpoint with Blencathra as a backdrop mainly because the dawn clouds were being lit up beautifully by the soon to be rising Sun and of course the clouds seem to mirror the shape of the mountain wonderfully.
I have to admit this was supposed to be my orignal upload tonight but it seemed to go walkabout in the Flickr upload system, so I uploaded the Derwent dawn shot instead, then all of a sudden this shot appears..
So I don't normally upload a couple on the same day, I will leave both on seeing that friends have made the effort to fav/comment.

"Circles" was intended to be The Who's contribution to the psychedelic wave of 1966/67, but it has not been released for several reasons. So, the single on this photo is a reissue of a vinyl that only existed as promotional copies. The song itself was later released as flip side of the famous "Substitute" single, but now named as "Instant Party".
In order to get some psychedelic bokeh bubbles "into" the centre hole without exceeding the MM rules, I had to find a lens that creates bubbles/circles that are small enough to remain visible as whole circles. The Xenar 105mm, a Tessar-type enlarging lens provides quite round "circles", even stepped down to f/5,6, due to its numerous blades.
Bright sunlight drew my attention to the circle forms of this pressure pad on the chrome leg of a glass top table.

Another variation of a wonderful old stairway made of stone. I found this architectonical gem in France, Alsace. Looking up to the the window in the upper end, it seems to be a modern combination of circles.

This medal measures 55mm in diameter.
Awarded to me by the Royal Victorian Association of Honorary Justices after I completed ten years of voluntary service to the Federal/Family Law Courts, Melbourne, Victoria.
For the Macro Mondays challenge "Circles" (April 9th 2018)
A delicate bracelet of interlocking circles of silver. Made for me by my great friend Laurie Kern, who is a talented metal-smith working in silver. It was an early, experimental piece, using a S-shaped clasp, and has a pair of matching earrings too!

This field is perhaps the most spectacular of it's kind. With its large collection of magnificent stone rings, it clearly belongs to the country's most beautiful ancient monuments. In the 1950s, the field consisted of at least 48 visible burial mounds of various kinds. In addition to 11 large, now restored stone rings, there were 11 round burial mounds, 13 stone mounds, 2 round stone settings and a round pile with stone ring, as well as 10 single standing stones. In the Southern part of the field a number of flatmark graves have been observed, and here there is a small rock carving field on a rocky ground. The examined stone rings are dated to pre-Roman Iron Age (approx. 500 BC - Kr.f.).
