Clint started to try to chip away the old paint in order to repaint it. It turns out to be a LOT of work.
Basically: Painting the radiator white became a new project to unpaint it so we could paint it brown, which became a new project to remove the radiator altogether. This was accelerated by an impending new roommate.
And of course another side-project to sand off the white paint on the wood panel behind the radiator. I had sloppily touched it up with white spray paint back in the day... Never realizing how bad this would be if the radiator was removed. Sanded & stained the white paint to where it looks okay again.

BACKSTORY: We started out trying to paint the radiator in the bedroom brown, because it was looking pretty awful, but eventually we realized the futility of removing the old paint, or even bothering. We weren't even using the radiator as we had switched away from the boiler heat to a heat pump when we had the addition built in 2006. So we finally removed it for good. Our friend Angel's boyfriend, Grayson, took it, because he plans to melt it down and make art out of it!

Blue Chip Farms Animal Refuge is a no-kill animal shelter in Dallas, PA. They run solely on donations, so for Halloween, these special four-legged guests will made an appearance accompanied by Marge, Blue Chip's owner, and some of her volunteers.
While growing up in Peekskill during the 60’s it was always a treat to get a new delivery of Charles Chips. I think everybody had a stray empty chip or pretzel can lying around. The home delivery operation ended in the early 70’s.

This one is a super-macro shot I took with the Nikkor 105mm macro lens and a 35–mm Fotodiox extension tube. I stacked focus and had to use 68 exposures to cover the entire length of the chipped part, which in reality is little more than one centimeter long.

Not as great to be honest - they were too thick and tasted mostly like roast potatoes - but a much better photo than any of the burger pictures.

Recently I developed an obsession with British style chips. It's completely different from fries here, from the shape, to the potatoes, to the way they're fried. I've had chips from a few ex-pat places like A Salt and Battery and The Chippery, but they're not quite the same, mostly because of the kind of potato used.
I more or less sustained myself on fish and chips while backpacking in Scotland and the potatoes there are yellower, and taste, for a lack of better term, more potato-y. The closest variety I could find at my local Swine Fare was Yukon Gold. They are not as waxy or starchy as red bliss, but have more flavor and better texture for frying than russets.
The way the chips are cut is also different. American fries are cut lengthwise into long thin strips. Brit chips are short and fat, which allows for more enjoyment of the creamy fluffiness of potato inside the crispy exterior.
