My little friend the Robin came to check the feeder, as I was standing near the well. He saw me but wasn't scared and stood there, waiting for me to take his portrait :)
Australian Magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen) female (on the left) male (on the right)
I noticed this morning that Mrs. Maggie was sitting on the nest, the fifth rebuild of this particular nest. When I was able to get back with the camera Mr Maggie brought her some food and was allowed to see the eggs.
You will notice that some used/empty plastic 'coil nail' strips are part of the nest, there are a couple of building sites nearby and the Maggies must have decided the strips would help to keep the nest together.
Always stop at a clearing to check for bears etc. waited a few seconds made some noise, nothing moved so all good.
I can check this one off the list. I have been trying to get a good image of a spoonbill for the last couple of years, I have ones that are not bad, but just not what I wanted . Yesterday this guy ate in the retention pond for a bit and took some time for a sitting for me.

Now I could not decide which image to post so I thought I would do both, I`m sure the seagulls were playing in and out of the waves with the spray being caught by the sun.
Checking on the tomato plants when I spied this unfortunate fellow.
This is a Tobacco Hornworm. A Braconid Wasp has inserted it's it's eggs inside this unfortunate Hookworm. After feeding for 8-10 days on nutrients provided by the still living Hornworm, they burrow out and make these cocoons. After about a week the adult wasp will emerge. At that point the moth larva will die.
Black-capped Chickadee perched in the garden checking for danger before swooping in. Have a great day!
Yesterday at the Kamera Börse I was made a sweet offer on a KMZ Horizont. I love the panoramic format and had wanted a Horizont for quite some time so I bought it, with the expectation it would need some clean up and new light seals. Well... the first few frames suggest it's doing just fine. Checking fast shutter speed will have to wait some more clement weather. Oh, and I got a Canon 35mm f/2.8 in new FD mount, another thing I had been after for quite some time.
