An idea inspired by a story I saw on CBS Sunday Morning.

Clear Lake - Iowa
The annual kite festival on the lake with mild temperatures and a sustain SE breeze at about 14 mph. They really had a big crowd yesterday with kids, kites, poodles and parents.
The photo does not represent the actual crowd which was further east on the lake. This was the "ONLY" parking spot I could find to get this shot! (Traffic Nightmare!)
The festival was featured on CBS Sunday Morning back in 2018.

Winter Kite Festival - Clear Lake
On this rare warmer winter day, hundreds of families, kids and pets show up for the kites, live music and food courts. This is the 19th year, and the event was featured on CBS Sunday Morning two years ago.
They dress warm, come for fun and stay until dark!

Winter Kite Festival - Clear Lake
On this beautiful Saturday afternoon, the city beach area was packed with kites, kids and parents. The temps were high teens, and a moderate sustaining breeze from the west.
It's an annual event which was canceled last year due to covid. This year, families turned out by the "hundreds" to fly, to watch and be outdoors with friends.
This event was actually featured on CBS Sunday Morning 2018.

Title given this painting by the artist Damien Hirst. At Sotheby's Auction House last spring listed at $350,000 to $450,000. Do not know final price. Showing this today because CBS Sunday Morning did a segment on Damien Hirst and showed how these paintings are created.
Before I started photographing the names of the flowers--have no idea the names of these flowers, but this is one of my favorite flower photos. Hope you agree.
Each Sunday morning, the program CBS Sunday Morning does profiles on actors, musicians, politicians, and other well known people, or social issues. They do several profiles on each show. After each profile, they feature an image of a "sun", or sun related image. I have had 7 of my images chosen for 7 different shows. This past Sunday they did a profile on LeVar Burton, the well known actor. It was an honor to have my image shown after his profile. The images are only shown for a second, two at the most.
You don't get paid for the image, but you gat a second of fame on a well known national show. Anyone can submit their art. If interested contact me, and I can provide more information.
I will post my past other "suns" in the future. To see the LeVar Burton profile, click on the link below. You will see my art in the very last second!

You can come and just stroll along with winding paths for a nominal fee or, for a few dollars more, bring a camera and take pictures and/or videos and share them with friends. Also, a movie starring Andy Griffith and Johnny Cash used one of the cars that now call this place "home." The honorary mayor of the "City," Dean Lewis, is also an artist in his own rite with some of the most unique canvas...the styrofoam cup. In his upstairs loft, Lewis has hundreds of styrofoam canvases featuring his artistic talents on display along with some paintings he will proudly show off.

Old Car City started as a small general store in 1931 during the Great Depression, Old Car City gradually evolved into a very big, very old automobile junkyard. But it wasn't until 2009 that owner Dean Lewis -- who grew up on the property -- realized he could turn it into a tourist attraction because a lot of people shared his love of decomposing automotive carcasses. It is still family owned and operated. 34 acres of forest and fields filled with 4,000 old cars (1972 and older) weathered and deteriorating old American cars. It has more than 6.5 miles of trails on 34 acres. Located about 45 minutes north of Atlanta in White, Georgia, is a cross between a junkyard and an outdoor car museum.

On a warm fall afternoon the waters and spanish moss covering the cypress trees of Lac Caddo (Caddo Lake) appear to be covered by a fine layer of snow; a phenomenon caused by low cloud cover and bright light.
I first read about Caddo Lake, a 25,400 acre lake and wetland located on the border between Texas and Louisiana, several years ago in the New York Times and added this mysterious looking swamp to my bucket list. Recently, CBS Sunday Morning featured Caddo in it's closing segment. Upon seeing the alligators, beavers, eagles, and cypress swamps I immediatly got on the phone and called the tour guide featured in the NYT's article and off we went.....
Unfortunately, no one told me that the alligators, beavers, eagles, and birds are either hibernating or migrating elsewhere this time of year leaving only the lake and swamp to be photographed..... myth has it that there are many bodies sunk beneath the cypress trees in Lac Caddo.....

Tourist attraction in Bartow County, Georgia. Old Car City in White, Georgia contains the worlds largest known classic car junkyard & is a unique landscape of metal and moss. Visitors enjoy the beautiful vegetation of the deep south that is intertwined with the hundreds of cars that reside in Old Car City.
