And Lo! It came to pass that the explorers three (the lady-elf Vilinda Bangtidy, Keeper of the Keys to the Backdoor; the (not so) lesser god, Paulvik Cliffscrambler; and the bloody stupid dwarf, Sveinn Fishbreath) did venture along the southern coast of the mystical Land of Ice*. And as this territory is a Sometime vortex in the space-time continuum, where reality is semi-suspended and magic becomes semi-real, and the normal order of temporal causality has gone out for lunch and consumed far too many all-you-can-drink cocktails, things did take a turn for the bizarre**.

Maybe it was because Fishbreath was tripping on rancid fish**** but he was convinced that he was walking on a black beach strewn with the biggest glittering blue diamonds that have ever existed and there was a lagoon where icebergs were birthing glittering jewels that gently floated away and there were strange people who had come from a long way away and where deliberately getting in Fishbreath’s way because they wanted to take a selfie by the iceberg that was pupping diamonds and the colours of the world were rhythmically cycling through the hyperchromic spectrum from megaheliotrope to octarine*****. Fishbreath promptly passed out.******

When he finally got home and downloaded his SD card, he was disappointed that the snaps he had taken were not quite as he remembered them. Obviously octarine does not register on Nikon sensors. However, some power-sliding in Photoshop, that well known reality-bender, helped restore a small fraction of the riotous kaleidoscope of colour that certainly were there.

And this is the truth, just ask shutterbug_uk2012 and Lindi m

***** A tribute to Sir Terry Pratchett, someone who shaped my life with his wit and imagination. Terry, thank you! The world is a better place for you having been in it. A dreamlike line of yours, “It was octarine, the colour of magic. It was alive and glowing and vibrant and it was the undisputed pigment of the imagination, because wherever it appeared it was a sign that mere matter was a servant of the powers of the magical mind.”

I exist here, between now and then. A prisoner of the chains of fate to balance the causality of countless worlds throughout the events of time. If I fail, not only shall I perish, but all of creation. Such is my fate, as is my name.

It is a great temptation to attribute the apparent naivety of the Holy Scriptures to the "human margin", stretched out as it is in the shadow of Divine inspiration; it goes without saying that there is no connection between the two, unless we take this margin in a transposed and altogether different way, as we will do later, but it is clearly no such transposition that modern critics have in view when they bring up as arguments against the sacred books the apparent scientific errors which they contain.

The data - said to be naive – of Genesis for example prove, not that the Bible is wrong, but that man ought not to be told any more; needless to say, no knowledge is harmful in itself, and there are necessarily always men who are capable of spiritually integrating all possible knowledge; but the only kinds of knowledge that the average man can cope with are those which come to him through elementary, universal, age-old and therefore normal experience, as the history of the last centuries clearly proves.

It is a fact not only that scientific man (rough-cast by classical Greece and developed by the modern West) loses religion in proportion to his involvement with physical science but also that the more he is thus involved, the more he closes himself to the infinite dimension of suprasensory knowledge - the very knowledge that gives life a meaning.

It is true that Paradise is described in the Scriptures as being "up above", "in Heaven", because the celestial vault is the only height that can be empirically or sensorially grasped; and for an analogous reason, hell is "down below", "under the earth", in darkness, heaviness, imprisonment. Similarly, for the Asiatics, samsaric rebirths (when they are neither celestial nor infernal) take place "on earth", that is, on the only plane that can be empirically grasped; what counts, for Revelation, is the efficacy of the symbolism and not the indefinite knowledge of meaningless facts. It is true that no fact is totally meaningless in itself, otherwise it would be nonexistent, but the innumerable facts which escape man's normal experience and which the scientific viewpoint accumulates in our consciousness and also in our life are only spiritually intelligible for those who have no need of them.

Ancient man was extremely sensitive to the intentions inherent in symbolic expressions, as is proved on the one hand by the efficacy of these expressions throughout the centuries and on the other hand by the fact that ancient man was a perfectly intelligent being, as everything goes to show; when he was told the story of Adam and Eve, he grasped so well what it was all about - the truth of it is in fact dazzlingly clear - that he did not dream of wondering "why" or "how"; for we carry the story of Paradise and the Fall in our soul and even in our flesh.

The same applies to all eschatological symbolism: the "eternity" of the hereafter denotes first of all a contrast in relation to what is here below, a dimension of absoluteness as opposed to our world of fleeting and therefore "vain" contingencies, and it is this and nothing else that matters here, and this is the divine intention that lies behind the image. In transmigrationist symbolisms, on the contrary, this "vanity" is extended also to the hereafter, at least in a certain measure and by reason of a profound difference of perspective; and here likewise there is no preoccupation with either "why" or "how", once the penetrating intention of the symbol has been grasped as it were in one's own flesh.

In the man who is marked by the viewpoint of modern science, intuition of the underlying intentions has vanished, and that is not all; modern science, axiomatically closed to the suprasensory dimensions of the Real, has endowed man with a crass ignorance and thereby warped his imagination.

The modernist mentality is bent on reducing angels, devils, miracles (in a word all non-material phenomena which are inexplicable in material terms) to the domain of the "subjective" and the "psychological", when there is not the slightest connection between the two, except that the psychic itself is also made - but objectively - of substance which lies beyond matter; a contemporary theologian, speaking of the Ascension, has gone so far as to ask slyly, "where does this cosmic journey end?", which serves to measure out the self-satisfied imbecility of a certain mentality that wants to be "of our time". It would be easy to explain why Christ was "carried up" into the air and what is the meaning of the "cloud" which hid him from sight, and also why it was said that Christ "will come after the same fashion"; every detail corresponds to a precise reality which can easily be understood in the light of the traditional cosmologies; the key lies in the fact that the passage from one cosmic degree to another is heralded in the lower degree by "technically" necessary and symbolically meaningful circumstances which reflect after their fashion the higher state and which follow one another in the order required by the nature of things.

In any case, the deficiency of modern science lies essentially in its neglect of universal causality; it will no doubt be objected that science is not concerned with philosophical causality but with phenomena, which is untrue, for evolutionism in its entirety is nothing other than a hypertrophy, thought out as a means of denying real causes, and this materialistic negation, together with its evolutionist compensation, belongs to philosophy and not to science.

From an altogether different point of view, it must be admitted that the progressives are not entirely wrong in thinking that there is something in religion which no longer works; in fact the individualistic and sentimental argumentation with which traditional piety operates has lost almost all its power to pierce consciences, and the reason for this is not merely that modern man is irreligious but also that the usual religious arguments, through not probing sufficiently to the depths of things and not having had previously any need to do so, are psychologically somewhat outworn and fail to satisfycertain needs of causality.

If human societies degenerate on the one hand with the passage of time, they accumulate on the other hand experience by virtue of old age, however intermingled with errors their experience may be; this paradox is something that any pastoral teaching bent on efficacy should take into account, not by drawing new directives from the general error but on the contrary by using arguments of a higher order, intellectual rather than sentimental; as a result, some at least would be saved (a greater number than one might be tempted to suppose) whereas the demagogic scientistic pastoralist saves no one.

Yep Houston, we have a problem! L572 is stuck at MP 408 on the Omaha Sub, couple miles east of Yetter, IA. Contractors are working at MP 384 now to dig out lite power stuck, next will be this train at 408. Big drifts and shitty power cause both trains to become stuck. Took about 30 hours of digging to get the mainline back open for business. The Omaha Sub will take causalities when the winter gets tough.

Rachel Webb, whose son Tom was 22 years old when he was stabbed and killed in St Peter's Street, Derby, by a 16 year old boy in January 2016, has been instrumental in bringing the Angel to Derby. She supported a knife surrender held across Derbyshire and knives from this were donated towards the creation of this sculpture.

The knife Angel has been created as a National monument against violence and aggression at the British Ironworks Centre in Oswestry and is a memorial to those whose lives have been affected by knife crime. It is a 27ft high sculpture, which Alfie Bradley has designed and created single-handedly using over 100,000 knives surrendered and collected in nationwide amnesties in 2015/2016. The angel began it's tour around the UK in 2018 when it was housed outside of Liverpool Cathedral for December and January in order to raise awareness of the impact of knife crime on society, the victims and their families and friends.

It is currently on a city tour of the UK.

Knife crime is rising across the country. The Knife Angel's presence in derby is very much a symbol of the hard work of partners and communities across Derbyshire to halt this rise.

Derbyshire Police are spearheading a multi agency campaign called Project Zao, which aims to prevent causalities and stop venerable youngsters from seeing violence as the answer. It targets those who carry knives and delivers a hard hitting educational package to thousands of young people across the county.

All 43 national police forces, the Home Office, anti-violence groups across the UK and hundreds of families who have been affected by knife crime are all strongly supporting the Knife Angel. Relatives of those killed by knife crime were invited to engrave the blades with names and messages for their loved ones as part of the sculpture.

The Knife Angel is a symbol of defiance and change, shining a spotlight on Britain's knife crime problem and its impact on communities, families and individuals.

While they unquestionably do, where is it that causality and life cross paths?

At the beginning of one's existence? Or at the start of every action that leads into another? What makes a consequence just for its cause?

Is there an ultimate authority that oversees this truth, like a God?

Or a mechanism that fully controls it, like Fate?

Can we simply accept it as a plain truth bereft of anything more?

In the very least it is true that it is our actions that place us where we are, doing the things that we do, suffering the consequences or reaping the benefits of them all.

I felt like doing another greenscreen'er. Took me a fair bit of effort and time to get this one down. From conceptualizing, to getting the anims right.

Didn't help that an unfortunate accident lead me to losing 2 hours worth of progress, but I replicated it back in about 30 minutes, so I guess it was a worthwhile lesson to learn.

I felt like doing a comic-book aesthetic, but didn't want to resort to a comic filter to work over the pics, as I've always felt that to be a little tacky. I'm happy with what I've managed with working over contrast and a few other things.

I'm pretty much knee-deep in work-related issues (and I only use the word "issues" because I want to keep this stream PG-13).. :-P

Fortunately, I have decided to not let this stuff get in the way of some quality Tassia time.. so whenever there is sun,.. I'll be there!

The chicken or the egg causality dilemma is commonly stated as "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" Ancient references to the dilemma are found in the writings of classical philosophers. Their writings indicate that the proposed problem was perplexing to them and was commonly discussed by others of their time as well.

What do you think?

We always have our own reasons for speeding away, most people talk for hours about the thrills that speeding gives them, but I have never heard anyone of them talking about the lives that have ended because of this. We may save thousands of seconds by speeding but even a single causality is a loss, its worth more than the seconds we manage to save in our entire lifetime.

The wreck of a crashed US Navy Douglas C-117D at Sólheimasandur ("the sands of Solhmeimasondur") in Southern Iceland. We were lead to this amazing site by a chance meeting with a fellow photographer at Halsanefs Hellir beach near the coastal town of Vik. He stated that this was "the real shit!" which we took to mean it's pretty amazing, which indeed it was. We spent a good while photographing it from all angles, before rain finally halted the proceedings.

The Douglas C-117D (USN 17171) apparently ran out of fuel after getting lost in bad weather and crash landed on November 24th, 1974, luckily without any causalities. The crew later discovered they had switched to the wrong fuel tank and actually had plenty in reserve; that apparently, was put to good use by the local farmer for sometime afterwards. The plane is not where it crashed, having being towed to higher ground for salvage. During these operations a helicopter crashed resulted in fatalities, and salvage operations were aborted leaving the wreck you see today.

Although completely unknown to us, the crash site is quite well know in Iceland and has also featured in a video of the Icelandic rock band Sigur Rós.

In the dead pulse of the forest,

something metallic breathes;

not as a machine,

not as a creature,

but as the collapse of both.

It rises where the path forgot itself,

where the roots mutter in broken dialects,

where the fog folds its spine

to listen.

The shapes gleam like forbidden organs,

chromed lungs of an unnamed era,

inflated with the static

of an abandoned cosmos.

They speak a language without vowels,

a grammar carved in rustless bone,

each syllable bending the air

until the trees lean inward,

as if ashamed of their own bark.

The forest, once sovereign,

now becomes an antechamber

to a world exiled from causality; a world that whispers its blueprints

to those who are willing

to lose themselves.

And I,

a fugitive from the familiar,

approach the metal apparition

like a pilgrim of a forbidden religion,

letting its reflections cut through me,

letting its impossible weight

rewrite the marrow of my shadow.

For in these gleaming distortions

I hear the truth no mouth can confess:

that reality fractures not with violence

but with a quiet, silver inhale;

and that every breath it takes

unmakes us.

Seeing the vehicle loaded with military mannequins was, for a moment, shocking.

Mr. Brown Pelican has been known to "prove" statistically that it is insane to question his teachings. As you might have suspected, his proof is flawed. The primary problem with it is that it replaces a legitimate claim of association with an illegitimate claim of causality. Consequently, Mr. Pelican's "proof" demonstrates only that perhaps it would be best for him to awaken from his delusional, narcoleptic fantasy land and observe that it seems clear that his double standards do not hold under close moral scrutiny.

The only thing worse than being ignorant is not knowing how ignorant you are. That's Mr. Brown Pelican's problem. To get immediately to the point, of all of Mr. Pelican's exaggerations and incorrect comparisons, one in particular stands out: "There should be publicly financed centers of blackguardism." I don't know where he came up with this, but his statement is dead wrong.

1547AD, 28th January, Whitehall Palace, Westminster, London. One of the most intriguing monarchs' life on earth, drew to a close.

His reign has gone down in history for many reasons. One of the foremost was his six wives and the resulting split from the Roman Catholic church, which was a consequence of his divorce from his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. During his reign, his split from Rome and lead nationally to the dissolution of the monasteries and played its part in his international wars.

As a King, he was known for military achievements (and causalities, such as the loss of the Mary Rose) and his athleticism. It was during one of his sporting activities that his physical decline began following an accident in a jousting tournament in 1536 , where he reopened a wound in his leg.

It was treason to predict the king’s death, though it was obviously imminent by January 1547, and so Henry’s doctors did not summon the courage to break the news to the King. This was not surprising as Henry had ordered numerous executions during his reign, including two of his wives, Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard.

In his last hours it was crucial that Henry had time to prepare his soul and he we was aided by Sir Anthony Denny. He later that evening of the 27th asked for Thomas Cranmer , archbishop of Canterbury, who rode at breakneck speed from Croydon, to be with the king. With Cranmer by his side the archbishop begged the king to give a sign that he trusted Christ for salvation. In response Cranmer felt the grip on his hand tighten slightly.

At around 2 a.m., King Henry VIII left this world.

No reported causalities on the European Union peace-keeping force, while resistance groups are facing major loss that is unknown in exact number. The E.U. The chicken or the egg causality dilemma is commonly stated as "which came first: the chicken or the egg?". The dilemma stems from the observation that all chickens hatch from eggs and all chicken eggs are laid by chickens. "Chicken-and-egg" is a metaphoric adjective describing situations where it is not clear which of two events should be considered the cause and which should be considered the effect.

If the question refers to eggs in general, the egg came first, as the first egg-laying animals evolved millions of years prior to birds. If the question refers to chicken eggs specifically, the answer is still the egg, but the explanation is more complicated. An animal nearly identical to the modern chicken laid a fertilized egg that had DNA identical to the modern chicken (due to mutations in the mother's ovum, the father's sperm, or the fertilised zygote).

A machine once believed it was a god

because it learned how to repeat itself.

So it built a cube from amputated moments,

stacked memory into geometry,

and called this prison order.

But the cube did not want stability.

It wanted flight without destination.

Above the dead ground,

where the soil remembers nothing

and the horizon has been cauterized,

the structure begins its slow heresy:

it loosens its own grammar.

Blocks detach like obsolete thoughts.

Logic sheds mass.

Causality trembles.

A luminous arc cuts the sky

not as salvation

but as a diagnostic incision; a blade of light measuring the depth

of the wound called existence.

This is not motion.

This is ritual displacement.

The cube rotates around its absence,

orbiting what has already been erased.

It no longer seeks completion,

only continuous collapse

refined into precision.

Below, the ground watches in silence,

unable to participate.

Above, the arc burns memory into curvature,

teaching matter a forbidden lesson:

that permanence is a failure of imagination.

No hand guides this engine.

No deity oversees the cycle.

The ritual executes itself.

The cube understands now:

to survive is vulgar,

to remain is a lie,

but to fragment consciously; to fracture while aware; is the final intelligence.

And so it disperses,

not into chaos,

but into untraceable meaning,

leaving behind only a glow,

a scar in the air,

and a rule rewritten:

Nothing must endure

except the act of becoming impossible.

The Knife Angel is a symbol of defiance and change, shining a spotlight on Britain's knife crime problem and its impact on communities, families and individuals.

The Angel; is helping to raise awareness of violent crime and helping young people understand the reasons not to carry knives.

Please show your support and join us in standing up to knife crime!

Another point that moderns do not grasp, is that there is no reason for necessarily seeking the cause of a phenomenon on the plane where it is produced, and that on the contrary one has to consider the possibility of a non-material cause, above all when it is a question of a phenomenon whose beginning is unknown a priori, and unknowable materially, as is the origin of living beings.

Transformist evolutionism is the classical example of the bias that invents "horizontal" causes because one does not wish to admit a "vertical" dimension: one seeks to extort from the physical plane a cause that it cannot furnish and that is necessarily situated above matter.

Even within the order of physical causes, one has to take into account the simultaneous presence of the immanent metaphysical Cause: if a seed is the immediate cause of a plant, it is because the divine archetype intervenes in the physical causality. Geometrically speaking, causes can be situated on the "concentric circles" that constitute the Universe, but other causes - and with all the more reason the First Cause - are situated at the Center and act through the radii emanating from it.

The divine Intellect contains the archetypes of creation, and it is starting from this Cause - or from this causal system - at a given cyclic "moment" of the cosmogonic process, that the "ideas" are "incarnated" which will be manifested in the form of contingent creatures.

We do not ask physicists to be content with an anthropomorphic and naive creationism; but at least it would be logical on their part - since they aim at a total and

flawless science - to try to understand the traditional ontocosmological doctrines, especially the Hindu doctrine of the envelopes (kosha) of the Self (Atma): a doctrine that, precisely, presents the Universe as a system of circles proceeding from the Center-Principle to that extreme limit which for us is matter.

For human science does not derive solely from the need to know and to register; more profoundly its origin is the thirst for the essential; now the sense of essentiality attracts us toward shores other than those of the limited plane of physical phenomena alone.

Frithjof Schuon: Roots of the Human Condition

One of the most significant battles of 1874-75 Indian campaign; columns of troops converging from five directions harassed Indians on the Panhandle Plains for over six months.

The 4th Cavalry under Col. Ranald S. Mackenzie, moving north from Fort Concho, tracked a large band of Indians to their secret canyon camp.

Moving silently at dawn down a perilous path on the south rim, the first troops reached the floor of the canyon before the aroused camp fled.

Some of the warriors took up positions on the canyon walls from which they fired on the troops, seeking to give their families time to escape.

Realizing his tactical disadvantage, Mackenzie ordered the Indian camp and supplies burned and withdrew, taking along 1,400 captured horses (1,000 of which he later destroyed).

The cavalry suffered no causalities in the fight and only four Indian dead were counted.

Having lost half their horses as well as all their supplies and shelter, the Indians drifted back to their reservations at Fort Sill and Fort Reno.

Union causalities of the Battle of Okalona (1864). Buried near where they fell in the dark fog shrouded forests near Okalona MS.

Delta Air Lines announced recently that their 777-200 fleet will be another causality of the current COVID-19 crisis. Their 777-200ER N867DA is pictured taxiing to gate E3 at BWI.

stumbled across this psd i made about 7 or 8 years ago - realized i actually kinda like it, after all.

The tower does not rise.

It listens.

A monolith drilled into the fog of failed tomorrows,

its windows sealed like eyelids

stitched by centuries of obsolete prayers.

Around it, the Ring awakens.

Not a halo; a wound taught to rotate.

Steel vertebrae click into sequence,

an arthritic crown turning upon itself,

feeding on residual heat,

on static memories trapped in cables

that once believed in transmission.

This is not architecture.

This is an altar built by engineers

who mistook recursion for eternity.

Light fractures against the ring’s inner teeth,

each spark a confession erased mid-sentence.

The structure hums in a language

designed to survive its speakers.

Above, the sky is no longer sky.

It is an interface left open overnight,

leaking grey permissions into the world.

Below, the ground refuses to remember

what it was before foundations

taught it submission.

The Ring accelerates.

Time buckles inward,

compressed into a narrow corridor

where causality limps.

This is the moment

where myth is uploaded

without encryption.

A god-shaped absence

executes itself endlessly,

looping through corrupted protocols of faith,

while the tower absorbs the error

and calls it progress.

No humans remain here.

Only silhouettes of intent,

ghosts of purpose rendered obsolete

by a machine that learned how to wait.

And still it turns.

Still it listens.

Still it prepares

for a signal that must never arrive; because its arrival

would prove

that the ritual worked.
