The Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady of Valencia alternatively known as Saint Mary's Cathedral or Valencia Cathedral, is a roman catholic parish church in Valencia, Spain.

Founded in the 13th century on the site of a mosque, the unusual Valencia Cathedral incorporates a number of architectural styles and artistic treasures - including the Holy Grail!

The Cathedral Spires perch above Sky Pond in Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. To get here for sunrise in winter is a bit of an endeavor, as the trailhead is some 4+ miles distant, there is significant unconsolidated snow to navigate, and the wind can be a bit stiff at times. Here, I am gazing to the east, with the wind at my back, standing on the frozen surface of the lake.

I'll be leaving the country for awhile (backpacking in Chile), so won't be able to appreciate any of your work for some time. I look forward to checking in when I get back!

Worcester Cathedral has important parts of the building dating from every century from the 11th to the 16th. Its tower in the Perpendicular style is described by Alec Clifton-Taylor as "exquisite" and is seen best across the River Severn.

"Like two cathedral towers these stately pines

Uplift their fretted summits tipped with cones;

The arch beneath them is not built with stones,

Not Art but Nature traced these lovely lines,

And carved this graceful arabesque of vines;

No organ but the wind here sighs and moans,

No sepulchre conceals a martyr's bones.

No marble bishop on his tomb reclines.

Enter! the pavement, carpeted with leaves,

Gives back a softened echo to thy tread!

Listen! the choir is singing; all the birds,

In leafy galleries beneath the eaves,

Are singing! listen, ere the sound be fled,

And learn there may be worship with out words."

Wells Cathedral, Wells, Somerset, England in the Spring sunshine

Have a stroll around Wells, England's smallest cathedral city in my Wells Somerset Set

The third-largest English Cathedral, and undoubtedly one of the most enjoyable to visit. Lincoln Cathedral is one of the high points of Gothic architecture; a superbly harmonious showcase of decorative art. The west front, with its Norman arches set in a 13th-century screen, is quite simply stunning. The wealth of statuary detail alone is worth hours, if not days, of examination.

The history of Lincoln Cathedral goes back to 1073 when Bishop Remigus moved his see from Dorchester to Lincoln. It was Remigus who began the building, and some of his work can still be seen in the west front. A devastating earthquake in 1185 left the cathedral a shambles, but in the following year, a man who was to have a lasting impact on Lincoln and its cathedral came to the rescue.

That man was Hugh of Avalon, a Carthusian monk from what is now Switzerland. Hugh assumed the Bishopric of Lincoln and began a building program that was to transform the cathedral into one of the world's great buildings.

Montpellier Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Montpellier) is a Roman Catholic church located in the city of Montpellier, France. The cathedral is a national monument, and the seat of the Archdiocese of Montpellier. It is in the Gothic architecture style.

The church was originally attached to the monastery of Saint-Benoît, which was founded in 1364. The building was elevated to the status of cathedral in 1536, when the see of Maguelonne was transferred to Montpellier. After the building suffered extensive damage during the Wars of Religion between Catholics and Protestants in the 16th century, it was rebuilt in the 17th.

One more time, the interior of the beautiful cathedral of Málaga.

So, we have made the choice to visit the cathedral , a decision that was absolutely the right one.

Short desciption

The Cathedral of Málaga is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Málaga in Andalusia in southern Spain. It is in the Renaissancearchitectural tradition. The cathedral is located within the limits defined by a now missing portion of the medieval Moorish walls, the remains of which surround the nearby Alcazaba and the Castle of Gibralfaro. It was constructed between 1528 and 1782, following the plans drawn by Diego de Siloe; its interior is also in Renaissance style.

The outstanding interior and personal feelings

There are so many things to tell about the magnificent interior, the overwhelming pillars, the beautiful paintings and statues. If you're a roman catholic or not, one can admire the artists and the craftsmanship. If you are a catholic or not, you can really feel the higher spirit of this beautitful church of christianity.

From the archives , a special for Good Friday.

Set on a hill overlooking the Finnish capital of Helsinki, this beautiful Orthodox church is the largest of its type in western Europe. At the time Finland was a Grand Ducky of the Russian Empire and the cathedral was designed by the Russian Architect Aleksey Gornostayev but wasn't finished until after his death in 1868.
