This is another new species for my prairie wildlife species set, though less than a willing model. The bullhead was captured in the pond by a diamondback water snake and taken to shore for consumption.

Best seen in full screen mode. Osprey pulls out a catfish.

While sitting in my blind watching for Wood Duck activity there was often a lot of peripheral activity that was equally exciting. One day in April a Great Blue Heron came out on what I call my "stage" (my range of visibility) and began hunting. Almost immediately it caught this Catfish and began maneuvering the fish in preparation to swallow it whole. After several minutes the heron finally had the fish in its throat but the catfish got stuck, probably hooked by one of the barbs. The heron gagged a bit and finally coughed the fish back out again, readjusted and then swallowed it in one swift move. I did see Wood Ducks that day, but it was this Great Blue Heron and its catfish sidekick that stole the show. April 18, 2015

The original Harrier Catfish by Raphy is quite something. Check out the sketch too. It has also been spotted in yellow. Double the part mutilation! .)

Long story short, I once made a TT heavily inspired by this design, but this time around decided to build my own interpretation of the creature.

Many links, loads to explore. Just enjoy .)

I rarely post any of my non-scenic shots on here anymore but decided to post a few from today at Catfish Creek.

Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park is located east of Dundee in Polk County, FL. It is one of the best places to experience Florida scrub, a habitat that is usually pretty low on my list of favorites in Florida, but one that comes off very well in Catfish Creek, where rare rolling terrain and a multitude of large ponds make this a very enjoyable and unique hiking experience. I always advocate hiking in Florida during the winter, and this is exceptionally true at Catfish Creek, where the sandy surface is a pleasure to experience in the cold, but near unbearable in the heat.

The Catfish is a completely custom track car where you can do most of the building yourself. However, over half of our customers opt to have us perform some of the pre-assembly before the car is delivered. It could be as simple as powder coating the frame, all the way to building a complete car.

A popular option is pre-assembling the interior. After choosing the design and materials, the interior is installed, seam sealed, and the bodywork is also pre-installed so the car shows up looking very much like the final product. Customers can literally take off the bodywork, install the Catfish frame onto the donor Miata roller skate, and start assembling the car. It’s very likely that you can have a rolling, steering car with suspension on the first day of the build!

One thing we don’t ever recommend is rushing through assembly. Take your time. Make the car your own, and always double check everything for safety. And double check with us to see how we can help. Below is Greg B’s Cat which is getting ready for delivery. He opted for a classic mix of Tan Alcantara, exposed aluminum, with all of it soon to be covered in a race car red body.

This is a photo composite of the Osprey and the cloudy North Shore mountains behind. Both taken at Iona Beach Regional Park. Wish I could have done it in camera but there's no controling where the Osprey flies.

When I showed my daughter this picture, she was extremely jealous of this Osprey. See, catfish is her favorite food. She says she would eat catfish if it came on a bed of lettuce topped with ketchup. She hates lettuce and ketchup.

Now that we've had our fill of the moon, let's get back to osprey. I still got tons of osprey pics from last Thursday's 2 hour adventure in Lake Blue Cypress.

This particular image was taken in the pre-sunrise light and as you can see, the osprey was flying nearly at eye level which is one of the great advantages of shooting from a boat among the bald cypress trees.

From a distance they looked like black garbage bags moved from the water, but the lake in Jaisalmer (Rajasthan - India) was too calm to bring about that riot. Only approaching it I discovered that was a fleet of hungry catfishes, that into a daily routine, was waiting for people visiting the holy place equipped with pieces of bread. Up close, the show of the shelling was quite nauseating. And yet creepy.

E pure raccapricciante.

Here are a couple more of the encounter I had with this GBH. It is astonishing to see the contortions these guys do to get down a big fish. Reminds me of a snake.
