Adult Caspian Tern Hydroprogne caspia at Bijol island, Gambia January 2013. There were just a handful aggressive birds during our visit on the island 21 January 2013. One egg was found, and the breeding season is probably just about to start these days for the Caspian Terns in Gambia. Bijol Islands holds the only Caspian Tern colony in Gambia, and it is supposed count about 10 thousand pairs. This bird is probably a male that has caught a fish he will present to a female as a courtship act.

The Caspian is an ancient breed of small horse, believed extinct for 1,000 years and pictured on friezes, artefacts and ancient writings.
These small elegant horses were the celebrated favourites of Persia’s kings until rediscovered in the 1960s on the southern shores of the Caspian sea, Northern Iran.
Small numbers may still exist in a semi-feral state in the rice paddies, cotton fields, forests and foothills of the Alborz mountains.
It is believed that the Arabian horse is a descendant from Caspians.
The Caspian Horse Society now breed various colours and the horse is noted for its small size and suitability to be ridden by children.
This one coloured with fifteen from thirty-six WHSmith colouring pencils.
