John Luther “Casey” Jones was and engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad. He was fatally injured on April 30, 1900 when “The Cannonball Express,” crashed into a northbound train, which had failed to pull completely onto the siding. The crash occurred just north of Vaughan, Mississippi. Casey was found in the wreckage and carried to the Vaughan Railroad Depot where he died a short time later. The famous ballad by Casey’s friend Wallace Saunders tells the story of the famous engineer. Casey Jones lived in Jackson, Tennessee and is buried in Jackson's Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Miserable, dull and cold, but nice to hear the chime whistle.
This is my custom Casey Jones 3" Dunny for my TMND custom series. I still need to paint his hockey stick shown and make his bat and golf club all of which can be held in his trusty golf bag.
I thought that Casey Jones was a TV programme from my youth staring Alan Hale, Jr. I was shocked to find out that he and "The Canonball Express" actually existed. Not only exist but have a museum in Jackson, Tennessee. If you drive between Nashville & Memphis you can't miss it!

Hear the whistle and you'll remember all those American films you've seen that have trains in them. I half expect to see John Wayne in the cab every time. Or Casey Jones.
TMNT's lovable adversary Casey Jones. Why does he look more someone ready to take the ice for a Canadian Hockey team? Maybe it's just me. Must be all the NyQuil I've been guzzling this week......

The forlorn crossroads of Vaughan, Mississippi was the site of the legendary Casey Jones train wreck. It is now a ghost town (if one feels generous enough to even call it that) with no trace of what once took place there.
An ad for Palladium Books' free game opportunity, which I figured I would put on here in response to this: www.flickr.com/photos/terrible2z/2593874038/ You see, Erick Wujcik passed away earlier this month and he worked on the RPG book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness for Palladium as well as other role-playing games and computer role-playing games, and was co-founder of Palladium Books.
When I first saw this ad -- in '97 -- I thought, "Well, the Turtles all have red headbands, so that must mean they're all Raphael." Little did I know there was a company called Mirage Studios that published Ninja Turtle comic books, which featured the Turtles only wearing red headbands because I had only been exposed to the cartoon, movies, and live action show at the time. My ignorance was removed in later years when I started to get independent comics and discovered Ninja Turtle comics, which were great. That's for a story for another time, I think.
This ad appeared in The Sensational Spider-Man Vol. 1 # 13 in February of '97. I find it funny how a mainstream comic book company -- Marvel -- had an ad that had something to with indie comics. I guess they gotta get money somehow, though.
