My entry for the contest over on FBTB.
I knew I wanted to do this scene from the moment the contest launched, but I had to make a few modifications to fit everything I wanted into it. I felt the building would look to plain without the fire escape which is actually in front of the next three windows to the left in the film, so I moved them over. In this new version, Shredder lands on the railing and breaks his back before tumbling into the garbage truck and we are spared the terrible second movie. Yay!
I was a huge TMNT fan as a kid which started with the comics and spread to the TV show. I can't tell you how excited I was to see the movie when I first heard the announcement and I wasn't disappointed. I know many don't like one medium or another, but to me the movie still holds up where the cartoon does not. It was cursed with being influenced by the era it was made, but otherwise its dark and at times edgy look proves that you can make a childrens movie and still make a mature well crafted film. (Don't get me wrong, it's no masterpiece)
I stand by this film and watched it with my son last weekend as inspiration to build this and we both agreed that my entry needed to have a working garbage compactor and there should be flick-fire missiles. Done and done as the Shredder is flung from his precarious position by a flick-fire hidden behind a 1x1 tile in the buildings brick work. I still prefer the original comics, but I was lucky enough to see this movie in B&W years ago and (as is the case with quite a few movies I've seen this way) I prefer it this way.

Well, here's something you don't see every day. Here is a southbound Northern Pacific passenger train at Arlington, Washington sometime in the 1960's. In the photo I count about 4 units and lots of passenger cars following.

Here are photos of the Maleficent Medium Figure that was recently released by Disney Parks. I first saw it in World of Disney in Disneyland, and I bought it the same day. The photos are taken in daylight, with a DSLR camera.
The figure is mainly made of resin. Diablo is flocked, so he is pitch black and feels like velvet. There is a circular base ringed with green flames. Underneath is a felt pad. It is a large, heavy piece. The dimensions are 14'' H x 10'' W x 9 1/2'' D, with a base that is 9 1/2'' in diameter. It weighs 6 1/4 pounds. It was designed by Casey Jones, and is part of the Art of Disney Theme Parks Collection. It costs $125.

According to the historic marker:
This is the house where John Luther Jones was living, at the time of his death at the throttle of his engine, "Old 382," at Vaughn, Miss., April 30, 1900. A folk song has immortalized his name.
For years, the home operated as a museum to Jones and railroad memorabilia. Originally, this home was located at 211 W. Chester St. and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1980, the home was unlisted as the home was relocated. When I look up that address on a map today, I see that the US70 / 45 Bypass is located, so I bet the house was moved to stay open as a museum and avoid demolition.
When this home and museum was relocated around 1978, so was the Shaw General Store. The new tourist stop became Casey Jones Village and it is one of the top tourist stops in Tennessee today. Now, if you tour the railroad museum, you can still see the inside of the Casey Jones home.

Jonathan Luther "Casey" Jones (March 14, 1863 – April 30, 1900) from Jackson, Tennessee, was an American railroader who worked for the Illinois Central Railroad (IC). He was killed on April 30, 1900, when his train collided with a stalled freight train near Vaughan, Mississippi. His dramatic death while trying to stop his train and save the lives of his passengers made him a hero; he was immortalized in a popular ballad sung by his friend Wallace Saunders, an African-American engine wiper for the IC.

so i had the honor and privilege to work with one of hardcore musics phenoms, Comeback Kid. these guys were a blast to be around and work with, really a high level of professionalism by them.
we shot three locations with multiple poses they needed a lot of vertical shots for press but i mixed it up a bit, film and digital. for the three locations we had one hour, now imagine that with carrying lights etc. so time crunched but like i said prior in this descriptions a very high level of professionalism by these guys.

The Turtle's arch nemesis 'The Shredder' had proven time and time again how much of a madman he really is. That lunacy runs so deep into the Foot Clan.. it wouldn't be til' many battles later that the Ninja turtles would discover just how insane Oroku Saki's ambitions really were. The Shredder literally puts himself into his work. The Foot's geneticists were constantly looking for ways to ensure Saki's legacy and kitchen harware. Harnessing the natural cloning and adaptive abilitiies of common earth worms yet manipulating then to take on a hive mentaliy to take on differant forms..the Geneticists created a self-healing and regenerating race of bio-super worms. Combined with their twisted mutation experiments, various DNA's (including that of their :beloved" leader)..they managed to create 3 mutant 'clones'of the Shredder. A feisty n' nasty 'Mini-Shredder',a behemoth 'Four-armed Shredder',.. and an awful shelled version known as the
CLAW Shredder ..
go figure..(go fish..)!!
"Created in the Foot Genetics Lab, this Shredder clone has been crossed and enhanced with crustacean DNA, giving it monstrous claw hands and a crabby attitude! With its cybernetic claw glove giving it added firepower, you'd better put your protective bib on - this is one lobster-lobed villain that refuses to go down easy! These are claws that won't be cracked open - but will do the cracking!"
Soon ,this great little seafood place..wasn't so great. After a vicious battle in the lab with the Turtles.. the Turte's proved once again they aren't to be crossed by any midget, arachnid, or crustacean clones. The battle had the clones in 'Shreds' and left the Foot Janitorial Division with a wormy mess on their hands and the aftermath of a very LARGE explosion. The Claw Shredder took a lobster lobbed dive in to the deep, deep boiler ready to be served up as the next dinner entrée at the local 'Foot Clan Crab Shack'.
Claw Shred has crabs.. but he also's got worms. And only one thing on his cloned, pop-corn shrimp, pea brain..REVENGE !!
Perhaps Raphael chose the wrong greasy-spoon to sink his teeth into a cod, anchovie,n' oyster pizza. Suddenly ..a loud crash behind the bar and couple waiters' aprons were snipped short. This was SNOW CRAB.. ('NO CRAB'..getit ??)..it was CLAW !! And when those beady,buggy,water-lobbed eyes sees Raph's Red bandana he see's red.. and he' sea's food (..you GOT that one, doncha !!).
Who will win this butter, tarter, baked 'tater, buffet battle at the Pawtucket Party House..!?
Tempers are flaring ..and Claw has a score to settle..the Foots' Lobster Lunatic is on the loose. He want's to throw this Shrimpy Turtle on the barby.
But if you know Ralph ..he ain' about to let some Crabby Crux ruin his Shrimp Scampie Special Me Time. This is Raph's time..!! He's ready to rumble with this Jumbo Shrimp and a side of onions !!
Hope ya all saved room for our award winnin' Kalimari Cake ..served up by our honoured chef ; Cap'n Mossback !!
..Congratulations!!.. you are now officially allergic to puns ..i do it tho' .. cuz i'm shellfish !!
(Ugg.. now you know why i don't eat crustaceans. Scuse' me ..i gotta vomit date with my doggie bag.)

The 1005 sitting next to what turns out to be the second version of the Casey Jones railbus. The stencil for 1005 uses ATF's Copperplate Gothic Bold for the master, blown up on the copy machine to cut the stencil. Looks modern, but dates to the 19th century.

->> LeSean Thomas .."..Dreamwave TMNT comic as penciler in '03.. bigger things were in store for LeSean
..including his personal creation 'Cannon Busters' and lead Supe- Character designer on Adult Swim's hit 'The Boondocks'. The guys work is fluid-alive.. and the inspiration from animation explodes off the pages from just his comic work alone. It's no wonder he was pegged for Story Boarding for some key cartoon projects. It's been a few years since i met the guy. But he's incredibly nice ..and so damm smart. I even mentioned how much he reminded me of Don Bluth which he thought was a great compliment. .."

Comin' outta the stickiness of a horrible weekend .. n' diggin' in the deepest bowels of my Turtle crap collection. I don't have the fanciest collection .. maybe it leaves a bit to be desired.
It's not as pretty as my friend Rosemary's collection..((fact is i inherited some of the cool scraps and access fat from her collection i'm actually still very greatful to her for)) ..or my other friends.. but i have a few treasures like this ..one-of-a kind and very special.
Tucked away .. i got this back out ..n' dusted it off.
Lesean and colourist Rob Ruffolo have both signed this.
Questioning everything right now.. my own work .. and why i am despised so much in industry .. when some ol' fat jerk at Dark Horse .. or the highly cruel world of Tokyo Pop ..has got me down .. i turn to the artists i and their work i love and admire .. helps me a lil' to stay in the game and to keep 2 aspire.. despite what industry thinks of me..

From the Wikipedia D&SNG page "The Casey Jones railbus was built in 1915 out of a Model T and is a predecessor of the Galloping Goose. It was originally designed to be an ambulance servicing the Sunnyside Mine in Eureka, Colorado. It was often used by mine officials to commute to Silverton. It has room for 11 passengers. The Casey Jones is owned by the San Juan Historical Society. In the summer months it is on a siding near the Silverton Depot and in the winter it is on display at the D&SNG Museum in Durango." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durango_and_Silverton_Narrow_Gauge_...

-->> **Based off CASEY JONES from Eastman & Bisley's masterpiece and swan-song to Mirage Studios, the BODYCOUNT mini-series. Photos from 2003 of this "lost" & possibly a former class-project, but one of my very first & major custom pieces. Utilizing the '03 TMNT Casey Jones as a base ( the strongest sculpt i felt for the project at the time. The attempts on the vintage figure failed ) - and murdering the weapons & accessories to match as much of the "SIMON BISLEY" chaos as possible. Casey's Hockey stick and baseball bat are wrapped in pointy spikes and duct-tape. Arnold's "American Flag" hockey mask is amoung my favourites and i also tried to fit that to the '03 styled masked packed with the figure.
Hard to recall what the base was made out of. I cannot tell if i made a custom base from scratch or added onto some other base from some other figure line. The base prolly topped off close to 14" tall and was a hodge-podge of "UGLY" elements like from the vintage TMNT line and some McFarlne scraps thrown in. There is a decapitated noggin sculpted by a former classmate topping off the base. Images from the BODYCOUNT mini-series as well as a few 4kids TMNT elements also make the base as bloody, weird n' violent as i possibly could, just like the books.
Th bio-card is the same as the 2K3 Casey bio card, but burnt, modified and bloodied to match the BODYCOUNT books, it came in a sleeve with artwork of Midnight - the Heroine of the story.
This imperfect figure was made & given to a friend & major CASEY fan as a gift. These are the only photos i have of this project.

"Tired of always sticking to the shadows and missing out on the thanks and praise, Michelangelo deicdes to head for the spotlight... by becoming an out-in-the-open superhero - Turtle Titan!
With a little help from the used clothing in April O'Neil's antiques shop, the Ninja Turtle resurfaced as the colorful superhero Turtle Titan and lent an assist to his favorite superhero, the Silver Sentry, by helping to defeat the Sentry's arch-villain Dr. Malignus.
So far, that was the Turtle Titan's one guest-starring role, his first and only appearance... but if we know Mikey, Turtle Titan's sure to return!"
Mikey's comic book geeky funky monkey shines have also led him into encounters with larva-blood laiden super hero 'Bug Man' ..'Stainless Steel
Steve' and his Justice Force..Casey Jones and Michelangelo get off on all this stuff. 'coarse the Turtles in their own right have thier own rouges gallery that's second to none and just plain weird.
But the lime-light just ain't theirs ..by the time Mikey and Silver Sentry the buggy madd puppet master Dr. Malignus..he learns a valuable lesson. Turtle tactics and ninja training do better on the streets when they stick to the shadows.. and that's Mikey's true path ..the way of the Turtle.. not the Titan.. but yeh..this is Michelangelo we're talkin' about. T.T. is sure to come back.. just flash the Turtle Signal.. or fake a crisis at his favourite pizza parlour.. he'll come a runnin'..cowel, cape and boots, tights n' all..(wait..he ain't wearin' any tights !! Fool's near naked !! )!! Ah someone get that kid some shorts !!

A pin-up of Casey Jones and Raphael by Dan Berger that appeared in the pin-up section of Tales of the TMNT #25, which was a big deal kind of an issue. This is great work by Berger and probably one of my favorite pieces by him.
I kinda wonder if Mirage is gonna do the same thing for the 50th issue -- an anthology kind of a comic with a couple of pin-ups cuz that'd be really cool.
