Jax, Bengal de sept ans. France 2022.

Yesterday I was able to photograph the first praying mantises in the volcanic Eifel this year.

Due to the great drought there is not much green in nature anymore. So these insects adapt to their environment in color, that they are hardly discovered.

To dampen the clear morning light, I used a diffuser.

Thanks for visiting!

Loch Lomond Marina is a great place to get sea birds if you hit the tide just right. The trail is also pet friendly as it is paved so unless it’s really hot it does not bother your dog’s paw pads. This Black Turnstone was in the right spot and in the light and allowed us to capture this photo. This is a characteristic bird of wave-washed rocky shorelines along the Pacific Coast in winter. Against the background of dark rocks, it is hard to see when it sits still, but it is usually moving, clambering about, turning over rocks, in search of barnacles and limpets.

As I was in our backyard photographing Hummingbirds a Dragonfly flew in and landed on our Lace Leaf Maple tree. Of course, I had to take a photo! This is an Olive Clubtail (Stylurus Olivaceus), I had no idea thtat there was a species of Dragonflies known as "Clubtails". I was really surprised by how pretty his eyes were. I wish he would have stayed a little longer, but he was off to hunt his dinner.

The green frog (Lithobates clamitans or Rana clamitans) is a species of frog native to the eastern half of the United States and Canada.

This Green frog is so well camouflaged that at first I had no idea there was a frog in duck weed soup.

Did you notice the insect by its right eye (your left)?

Cette grenouille verte est si bien camouflée que je ne l'avais pas vue au départ dans cette soupe de lentilles d'eau.

Vous avez remarqué l'insecte sous son oeil droit (à votre gauche)?

This lovely sheep has picked up a few twigs on its travels , tyring to blend in :)

Soulis: Camouflage Required.

This pied kingfisher (ceryle rudis) was almost camouflaged by the mottled background when I saw it in the Okavango, in Botswana. I was more used to seeing these birds in trees or on telegraph wires!

Enfin ... presque !

Thank you everyone for visiting...

Have a great day!:)

Everyone left the table.....

BENNY:

Pfff... everyone's gone...

(Benny crawls out from under the table and sees the two chocolate hearts.)

How lucky... they are still here! One for me and one for Jago.

MARY:

Benny!

What are you doing under the table?

I thought you were going to visit Jago.

BENNY:

Oh...eh..Hello Marty....eh...Mary

Well...uh...I was cleaning the floor.

Some food scraps fell under the table.

You know that Peter often messes with food (winks at Mary).

MARY:

How nice of you Benny. So if you want to do the dishes too, I'll show HM Queen Lilibet the garden with Mummy Marian.

BENNY:

Of course I want to do that for you!

Benny talking to himself: I hate dishwashing.

Can not think of this butterfly's name; it's common but first time I've photographed one. Thanks to Nancy who ID'd it as a Cloudless Sulphur.

Would not oblige me by sitting still for very long.

Doing well over here in Minnesota...how about you?

Thanks for your vist, flickr friends...Pat..xo

The little guy was to busy watching the croissants on the next table and would not turn his head, but I loved his colours on the background of the chairs.

Apocalypse ready in Hillsborough, Sheffield. Perhaps they know something that we don't?

I'm actually a huge fan of dressing in interesting ways, so thank you to these two Sheffield folk.

Blue tiger butterfly (Tirumala limniace)

The males have a brush at tip of the abdomen. They protrude it out and stroke the pouches of specialized scent scales on the hind wings to scatter the scent that attract the females. The eggs are laid on the tender buds or flower buds or the tips of the leaves.
