Cameroon's Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health officially launches the country's 2019 seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) campaign by administering the first antimalarial treatment to a selected child. The first cycle of Cameroon's SMC campaign ran from July 3-7 in the regions of Garoua and Maroua.

Normally the humid haze makes it impossible to catch a glimpse of Mount Cameroon from our balcony -- but yesterday was a big exception! We endured a quite powerful tropical storm, which in its wake cleared the skies for an hour or so. I ran for my camera as soon as I realised what I was looking at! (I've been here with Melanie for a 2.5 weeks but did not even know you could see this mountain from her balcony).
