Reed Canal Park has been my go to place for water bird shots for years. Many varieties can be seen there depending upon the season, but the Great Blue Herons are in the area most of the time. Solitary birds, you seldom see them in groups. There is always something ethereal and enchanting about watching these birds hunt at dusk. They are born killers, but have a grace and beauty that causes you to forget that they aren't just there posing for you; they're there to kill fish for their dinners! Though they move so slowly that they can appear like statues, when they do strike, it's with lightning speed. It's a marvelous thing to see!
