my lame and disastrous attempt at sewing a button hole with the sewing machine i've never used before. i swear that's 700 yards of thread. it took us a good 30 to 45 minutes just to pull the *fabric* out of the sewing machine.
(this was a project for my poppie - he always spills stuff on his shirts while eating, so i was making napkins that you can button on up high and cover your shirt.)
Os Gemeos Mural: by the twin brothers Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo.
The Rose Kennedy Greenway is the site.
The 70' x 70' mural is displayed in Dewey Square Park on the Air Intake Structure located between Summer and Congress Streets. The mural is temporary and will be up through the end of Os Gemeos’ exhibition at the ICA (11/25/12)...

Mary and I first met at the Cambridge Women's Center, in its "Women Writing" group. Before we became a couple we'd spent about a year sitting across from each other in a room of women who wrote and poured our hearts out in the act of free-writing. (In July 2004 I began and facilitate a co-ed free-writing group patterned after "Women Writing" -- I've written about that group here.)
The Women's Center was born when a large group of women seized an abandoned, Harvard University-owned building In 1971. Their organizing efforts and generous local support led to the purchase of a lovely house at 46 Pleasant Street, near Cambridge's Central Square.
