This is the button array on the right handlebar of my 1966 Sears Gold Seal Vespa. This is one of only a very few scooters sold by Sears, but NOT called Allstate. Just Sears.
But I don't know how all of these buttons work. It won't start, but it could be because one of these buttons is in the wrong position. The top button is a 3-position rocker, the left button is an off-on switch, but no clue as to which is which. The bottom button in for on, and out for off, as is the one on the extreme right. Any clues will be appreciated. This is a zippy little bike with 4 speeds and 125 cc's, and I really need to be riding it.
I will be starting a button a day project where I will post one button from my extensive chiuldhood collection per day until I've recorded them all on Flickr. If there's a story to be told, I'll be posting it on one of my blogs, beginning with www.RealHomeSense.com on 10/02/10.
I used a shallow recycled bottlecap as the base for this pincushion -- no more pins stabbing the wrist! I also used scrap fabrics (mostly reclaimed) for the cuff.

Vintage 1930s valentine card from my Mother's collection. The poem, printed in hard to read gold ink, reads:
Button-face oh! Button-face,
Be my Valentine!
With big round eyes and ivory skin,
Ev'ry grace is thine!
She has a real, hand painted button for a face. Unfortunately there is a crack in the button.
