I have never met Anast nor Yates but I had a nightmare that I went in for a consultation and accidentally ended up wandering around in the private residential quarters, and I couldn't find my way out. The place smelled like spoiled breakfast sausage. In the dream it seemed like the odor was coming from the carpet.

I have been researching!:

• The building was erected in 1951.

• It was formerly "Tasty Twist." The owner of the building forced Tasty Twist to relocate in early 2010. ("E. Lansing ice cream shops see changes," Lansing State Journal, January 5, 2010, via ProQuest).

• According to signage at Tasty Twist's current location a short distance down the street, Tasty Twist has been in operation since 1960. According to a July 4, 1997, article in the Lansing State Journal, Tasty Twist was part of the "Tasty Freeze" chain for approximately its first 25 years. ("Cool craving: It wouldn't be summer without frequent trips to the ice cream stand," via ProQuest).

• Q: By "Tasty Freeze," did the 1997 article mean Tastee-Freez?

• Anyway, after forcing Tasty Twist to relocate, the building's owner (also the owner of the gas station at the left, now closed) opened this competing shop, "East Lansing Tasty Treat." ("E.L. ice cream lovers served a twist," Lansing State Journal, February 11, 2010, via ProQuest).

• East Lansing Tasty Treat operated only "briefly," according to a 2015 article hyping the site as the possible location of a new student apartment building. ("Apartments planned for old E.L. Tasty Twist," Lansing State Journal, April 13, 2015, via Google cache).

This sign has seen better days. The beautiful brick Troy Laundry facilities it sat atop did not seem to be functioning and the building seemed to be used by a local newspaper for a news stand warehouse.

Sign artist John Espinola made this sign of 1/8 in. aluminum composite material. The tops of the letters in CAMPBELL are contour cut along the arch. The GLASS letters were individually cut from the same material and attached to the sign so they are casting real, not painted, shadows. The gold circle and diamonds are clear beveled plastic pieces backed with gold film. Espinola painted all the elements of this sign by hand using oil based enamels. www.artwks.com

Funfact: According to Google Streetview, the "Star Express" sign was installed sometime between September 2014 and September 2017, replacing a "Stop & Gas" sign. You thought it was older didn't ya!

I love the phenomenon of "concrete sidewalk through blacktop area."

This business is in the same building at the Rum Cake establishment and just across from Marietta Burgers & Tap. Sometimes I am able to create a minor miracle using Snapseed. I shot this sign with my little Sony DSC-WX220. It was zoomed out pretty far on a dull, drizzly afternoon. The was it is upon is a real mess. So I straightened and corrected the sign, gave it some life and created the black border to represent its actual black surround. The gray frame represents the wall.

Fading but still legible. This building is in an area that they are trying to refurbish but who knows what will happen in the coming years.

The Stark County Auditor website says the left half of the building is from 1919 and the right half is from 1927. Since the two halves are united by a single symmetrical false front, I HAVE CHOSEN TO BELIEVE that its current appearance is more 1927 than 1919.

Signature (Previously the Signature Shop) is located in the Buckhead neighborhood on Roswell Road. The gallery has been at the same location for about fifty years. The new logo, used here as a sign, is just a few years old.

Here was one of the dramatic spectacular otherworldly light conditions for which the Desert Southwest is beloved.

"Playland" is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable. The second A has an "uh" sound.

I filled up on greasy breakfast until I was huge, then carried the food wrappers out here to this dirt area, and released them from my hands.
