Roughing it in the bush. That's Ali, our guide. The chef, cooking the omlets to order is off to the left...really. There was also fruit, pastries, bacon, sausage, juice, tea and coffee. No paper plates here! Amboseli.
I love this photo for the way the evening light simply glows through the bush., and I also like the way the adult is checking us out, while the baby snuggles in for protection from us 'nasties'. Worth going to Namibia for, just to get this shot.

this is one of my more obscure collections. it started in Japan when I realised I'd taken photos of cool bushes (or something else) and then got a van also in the pic. I'm not obsessed with vans, or trees, or the combination. I just sorta decided I'd collect them on purpose instead of accidentally.
We have a line of Spirea bushes between the edge of our lawn and the woods beyond. They bloom at different times of years and come in different hues. This one's leaves are just popping and I loved the red tones.
Sally pulls a roadside trap from the agapanthus bushes. This trap is just opposite the waterfront, so it's a good site to catch rats that scavenge between the bush and the seaside.
The traps target rats and mustelids, but also hedgehogs. Sally doesn't always mention this, as hedgehogs have a much cuter public image than the other threats to native wildlife.
Sally isn't sure if ERAT can totally eliminate pests, but she says "we're going to keep on trying."
