Dusky bush tanager / clorospingo oscuro, photographed at Sendero Tumpiki, Mindo area

I understand this "tanager" is actually a member of the sparrow family.

This photograph was obtained at a facility with no wildlife in captivity. Some birds, mammals, and insects were drawn within photographic range by the provision of various carefully maintained foods appropriate to the species and habitat. Natural foods were also abundantly available in the area within and around the facility.

The rear of Bush Hill Tavern sits beside Bush Hill Station. I love the decay that appears to have set in to the roof of the rear of the building

Shepherd's Bush is a district in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham situated 4.9 miles (7.9 km) west of Charing Cross.

[...]

The name is thought to have originated from the use of the common land here as a resting point for shepherds on their way to Smithfield Market in the City of London. An alternative theory is that it could have been named after someone in the area, because in 1635 the area was recorded as "Sheppards Bush Green".

130 years ago Hammersmith & Fulham was a largely rural area. There is evidence of Roman and Saxon occupation of some riverside areas and the manor of Fulham, which included Hammersmith, was referred to in the Domesday Book.

A Roman road leading westwards ran from Oxford Street along the line of the present Goldhawk Road. Shepherds Bush derives its name from shepherds who used to rest their flocks on a triangular green in the north of the borough on their way to market up until 1900.

The arrival of the railways in the borough was the catalyst for the development of the present day Hammersmith & Fulham. The extension of the Metropolitan Railway to Hammersmith via Shepherds Bush from Paddington in 1864 started these changes, followed by the District Line's arrival in Hammersmith (1874), West Brompton (1869) and Putney Bridge (1880). As a result, the second half of the nineteenth century saw a huge increase in population, from 10,000 in 1801 to 250,000 in 1901.

Only you can do something about it. '

There's no-one there, my friend, any better.

I might know what you mean when you say you fall apart.

Aren't we all the same? In and out of doubt.

I can see angels standing around you.

They shimmer like mirrors in Summer.

But you don't know it.

And they will carry you o'er the walls.

If you need us, just call.

Rest your weary world in their hands.

Lay your broken laugh at their feet.

I can see angels around you.

They shimmer like mirrors in Summer.

There's someone who's loved you forever but you don't know it.

You might feel it and just not show it.'

I am programmed in my emotional life by the first work of fantasy that got through to my heart. For me it was Barrie's bitter, sad condemnation of adulthood. Peter Pan has soured so many children into seeing growing-up as an end to something much more real. For Cathy, I could guess that it was Oscar Wilde who first led her into that tricky land of tear puddles.

This was one of the neatest locations in Charm City. The B&O CPLs were well-represented in Baltimore, giving those lucky Baltimorons something to do.

The signals have since been replaced by generic Safetrans signals, making this location look like any other location across the country.

At least you can still get fresh oysters and crab and Yuengling here.

Nice young bush full of youthfull vigour. Lots of male catkins that provide windblown pollen to fertilise the tiny red female flowers (as in photo posted yesterday)
