A small screw in lightbulb with it's inner metallic bits. One of the wonders of the world. About 4cm long.

This 12V car bulb still uses a Tungsten filament to produce light and a lot of waste energy as heat. The LED's in the mobile phone require only a tiny amount of energy.
I've used window light from the RHS with a green card to add reflection and contrast.

Every year at Christmas the Norfolk Botanical Gardens, and the Virginia Beach Ocean Front decorate with holiday lighting. The NBG lets you walk the display for a week. We were able to do the walk last night and this is one of the scenes.

Well what a saga! Storm Dennis knocked out our internet Saturday/Sunday (I'm not complaining, we got off lightly here by comparison to some parts of the UK). Hubby came home late this evening with a mobile WiFi and I've been struggling to connect to the internet and post to Flickr...but finally here is my contribution for what it's worth! HMM!
kk_Inner Circle 2021, Alphabet February,
The theme for February is a letter a day going through the alphabet. I've repotted my amaryllis bulb after untaxing it, and it has taken root in the dirt. Botanicals are one of my favorite themes to create still scenes with. preset SS_mulberrysilk
It's been over a year since the last time I posted here. I've come back in an attempt to reignite my interest in photography which I've struggled to do in the last couple of years

(For ref, this is a car indicator bulb less than 1" diameter)
Most types of domestic incandescent light bulbs are now obsolete and largely replaced by LED technology.
Guess who is my little helper today?! We are planting bulbs for spring color in the garden today. It is a perfect day to do that in my Ohio garden. NOTE: DO NOT LET YOUR PETS EAT OR NIBBLE on BULBS or any other plants! More on my website at brenhaas.com
I found this great tutorial to make a light bulb in Blender.
Unfortunately, the bulb in the tutorial does not have a screw thread, so I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon going through one tutorial after another to model a screw. There were issues with each of them, were quite messy and required a fair bit of clean up of the geometry.
Later, then, I discovered that Blender 2.9 contains a Bolt add-on (you first have to enable it in the Preferences). Aha!, I though, that I can use for my light bulb. I added a bolt, deleted the vertices of the head of the bold, and then merged each vertex of the top of the bolt with each vertex of the bottom of the bulb. Done. Clean and quick.
