This 1983 HJ47 Ute came in for a number of jobs, including: - Rear air locker fully rebuilt with Koyo bearings all supplied by MrLandcruiser - ARB Air Compressor tucked up out of the way and control switches for the locker. - ARB Turbo kit for the 2H engine that is monitored through a combined boost/EGT gauge, neatly mounted to the steering column. We also upgraded the old school glass fuses to more reliable blade fuses in a box that still looks original, and installed a small power board for the fridge so the customer can have cold beers for his Cape trip later this year. Good old farm find that would normally be destined to either rot in the paddock or end up a parts rig has had a lucky break and is now back on the road. This 1971 FJ45 has been tidied up and now on it's way to a better life. From rebuilding axles, new loom, new genuine parts, a engine fresh up and more. After the blasting of the chassis revealed the extent of the work that needs to be done, we have started getting stuck into the chassis repairs to the rear end and also the crack in the spring hanger. The first step before starting to weld is to grind out a channel for the weld to penetrate into, and in the case of the crack we will also be terminating each end with a drill hole to prevent any possibility of spreading in the future. The body panels came back from SEQ Onsite Services after blasting and the epoxy coat, the only real work that needs to be done aparts from a few pited areas is a corner on one of the rear door window frames that has had a previous bodge it and scarper job done on it. A different story is the rear upper panels, the customer dropped these off for us late last week and we were surprised to see the extent of the damage and cancer to the bottom corners. It is nothing that can't be fixed but it will certainly take some time to shame the replacement parts and get it all welded and skirfed ready for the the final stages.
