Held on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July 2004, this was the first Salvo Fair to be held at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire. It was a two day event with 31 exhibitors and 1,800 visitors.

Ai Weiwei: Making Sense

COLOURED HOUSE, 2013

Wood, paint, crystal glass

This house once belonged to a prosperous family in Zhejiang province, in Eastern China, during the early Qing dynasty (1644 - 1911 CE). The timber frame follows a traditional post-and-beam system. Most houses of this period have been demolished, giving this structure a ghostly quality.

Artist Ai Weiwei rescued the house from destruction and has painted the house with industrial colours, combining ancient and modern, and installed it on crystal bases-giving presence and status to this unlikely survivor.

Today I demolished the top four layers of siding on what was once an outside wall of our house but is now going to be the mudroom by DK10 | Stove With A House

And I uncovered the original 1852 clapboard siding. It's not in bad shape considering it's 154-year-old wood.
