No idea as to what this will become. Found it in the garden. Any ideas? Has a 'toothbrush' arrangement on its back.
I finished work early this afternoon and had time to go for a wander in the woods before it got dark. Saying that, it's never really got properly light today - it's just been miserable. Not snowing any more - in fact it rained shed loads this morning. And it was really misty and glum down in the woods near the lake. Didn't take the tripod (still too new to get dirty lol), so just handheld macros today!
I love the bug living in the middle of the fungi!
Looking at this picture again, the white background makes it seem as though I was looking up the tree towards the sky, when in fact I'm bent down looking straight along the branch, and the white is the snow on the ground. Strange perspective!
Common toad I found under one of my bonsai trees by the side of the pond. Focus stacked using zerene. I took a couple of shots before replacing the toad in it's hideaway

I'm hoping Chris Cable can identify this gorgeous specimen for me.
Oh, this sculpture is about human sized, by the way.
The green shield bug (Palomena prasina) is a shield bug of the family Pentatomidae. It may also be referred to as a green stink bug, particularly outside of Britain, although the name green stink bug more appropriately belongs to the larger North American stink bug, Acrosternum hilare. The adult green shield bug ranges in the colour of their backs from bright green to bronze, without any substantial markings. Green shield bugs are a very common shield bug throughout Europe, including the British Isles, and are found in a large variety of habitats, including gardens. They have been found as far north as 63° N latitude.
Another picture for the contest.
Graphosoma lineatum on Hydrangea leaves.
I tried to work with the repetition of leaves shape in the background.

Lensbaby plus post. Taken indoors at an auto show so added texture to somewhat disguise the setting.
