Noticed today, that the Pest Aphids are back.

The quote from the animation Bug's Life by the Grasshopper "You let one ant stand up to us, then they all might stand up! Those puny little ants out number us a hundred to one and if they ever figure that out there goes our way of life! It's not about food, it's about keeping those ants in line."

Textures applied and glass panes applied to this doll house of horror through photo slides. The rest is an art display by Jennifer Angus.

Gartenlaubkäfer (Phyllopertha horticola)

Bug is pretty hard to identify in this photo but it is firmly held at the tip of the beak. I probably would not have posted this if it were not my very first hummingbird image of 2022 ... :)

One of the thousands of beautiful and harmless bugs we find in the fields.

Uno de los miles de chinches hermosos e inofensivos que encontramos en los campos.

Blooming in at the end of summer and into fall, our plants of Sedum 'Autumn Joy' are not only beautiful, but they give the insect world one last feeding frenzy before the cold winter arrives.

I spent an hour or two on my stomach, back, and knees the other day revelling in this micro environment, enjoying the colors, critters, and the cool air! Hope you're enjoying it with me through Flickr :)

A large milkweed bug, Oncopeltus fasciatus, captured in the milkweed, of course...

The look on this poor bison bull's face expresses well his discomfort from the hundreds of buzzing biting bugs hovering around him. Rolling in his dusty wallow helps him fight them off, but only for a few minutes. Poor fellow.

Normally post only 1 photo a day but posted these 5 in order to show what Bison and other critters have to put up with bugs. Wanted to dose him down with deet......must say, would drive me crazy.....

Thanks, as always, for taking a look and for any comments, faves or suggestions.

Jewel bug in Balurghat, West Bengal, India.

Sally and I enjoyed watching a Trash Bug in our garden last year. The 2020 one isn't quite as colorful (see comments section). I went inside to look for a bit of glitter (to see if he would pile it on), but he disappeared and then it rained.

"Macro Monday's" and the theme of "Plastic".

For this theme I quickly decided to use my son's Bug Catcher that he received as a present as part of a "Nature Set".

As the handle section of the catcher is orange I decided to use a contrasting colour as the background and set it up on a blue plastic chopping board that I use for photographic purposes. This was set up in front of the kitchen window and I used a diffuser to soften the light source.

Then I decided to find a subject to include as part of the composition.

Soapberry Bugs Subfamily Serinethinae

Yesterday we saw one, here a group feeding on a seed that fell off a tree.

Reference was made to www.soapberrybug.org and today I came across the flickr page of one of the researches involved (www.flickr.com/photos/soapberrybug/) where I saw similar photos, so this must be the Boisea fulcrata soapberry bugs...
