Found this guy on Halloween night on the garage wall . I had no clue what he was , after about an hour of searching the internet I found him . I also found out that if I was bitten by this it would have felt 10 times as bad as a hornet sting .
We started our fist ginger bug today that in a few weeks will lead to our first home made ginger beer. The bug starts with a cup of water, 2 tsp sugar and 2 tsp shredded ginger.
Title - "Bug Car"
Artist - Harry Fladd
Date - 25 August, 2009
Medium - Marker on Note Paper
Artist's Notes - "It's cozy and warm in there. There is an ant, a big-footed beetle and a red-head beetle. The Bug Car is going fast, but it has real bugs on it and inside it, playing basketball."
Adult shield bugs are attractive insects, easily characterised by their flatish oval or five-sided shield shap (the pentatomids). They are often called stink bugs because when threatened, some species produce a pungent liquid from special glands near their hind legs (poke one and then sniff your hand). Most shield bugs feed on plant sap and some are pests of economically important crops such as coffee and cotton. Few gardeners would consider them to be pests, although the noxious liquid they produce can taint the taste of some fruit. Most shield bugs need symbiotic bacteria for the digestion of the sap. They acquire this aid-to-digestion at an early age, their mother smears her eggs with the bacteria so that the young nymphs ingest them as they feed on the egg case. Unlike many insects, shield bugs often show parental care, guarding their young from predators. The Parent Bug (Elasmucha grisea) is so named because the female will actually sit on the eggs until they hatch. This reduces levels of attack from parasitic wasps.

Artist's Notes - "There are smiley faces and lots and lots of flowers. There is a really big ant! The little ones are just Army Beetles. I drew this because I wanted Mommy to have it on Mother's Day. I think this is a good picture."

Bug orgy bush. Stopped to check out where the sweet perfume on the wind was coming from and found it coming from this bush. Then I noticed that it was covered with bugs. Then I noticed that all of the bugs were getting down... guess the scent is like and aphrodisiac to them.

Spring is here and the bulbs are pushing their way through the soil to create many of God's wonderful beauties. If you look closely, you'll see a bee and a little ladybug as well. This piece is done on a vintage window with broken pieces of "Grandma's treasures"
Testing out my new 135 Super-Takumar!
I got bugs
I got bugs in my room
Bugs in my bed
Bugs in my ears
Their eggs in my head
Bugs in my pockets
Bugs in my shoes
Bugs in the way I feel about you
Bugs on my window
Trying to get in
They dont go nowhere
Waiting, waiting...
Bugs on my ceiling
Crowded the floor
Standing, sitting, kneeling...
A few block the door
And now the questions:
Do I kill them?
Become their friend?
Do I eat them?
Raw or well done?
Do I trick them?
I dont think theyre that dumb
Do I join them?
Looks like thats the one
I got bugs on my skin
Tickle my nausea I let it happen again
Theyre always takin over
I see they surround me, I see...
See them deciding my fate
Oh, that which was once...was once up to me...
Now its too late
I got bugs in my room...one on one
Thats when I had a chance
Ill just stop now
Ill become naked and with them...
Ill become one

The ambush bug is small and likes to hide in yellow flowers like goldenrod. I found two today by carefully searching each goldenrod plant I passed. I find they can easily be mistaken for a wilted bloom. Note the protective mantle on the top of the head. There is a groove in the mantle into which the antenna can be folded for protection. Also note the sharp pincer like claw which is used to hold prey. Hooks on the other legs serve to hold the bug in place so it is not pulled around by prey. Like all assassin bugs, the assassin bug has a folded beak hidden under his face plate that extends to puncture, poison, digest and ingest prey. It is an all purpose tool.
