Week 25 in 52 Weeks for Dogs. I've been meaning to do a 'bucket list' for Taivas for quite some time. She is a dog who has missed her vocation in life, to herd anything that moves. I wish I'd set up a better backdrop but yet again, I was up against the time, having left her shot until Sunday.

Burg Eltz. I've seen so many amazing photos of this place here on Flickr - so I couldn't wait to go here. Would have looked amazing in fog, snow or in Autumn...none of which you get in June!

The other day, we travelled to the town of Hoorn. After dinner, I took some time to stroll through the old harbour, looking for a nice composition. The famous monumental tower was one of my bucketlist subjects. So what better way then to use this old vessel as a foreground and make the tower a key-part in my composition.

Enjoy!

Beautiful view of Lake Lucern ( Luzern) and the Alp Mountains, in Switzerland, from the famous Burgenstock Resort, Park Hotel. Enjoy the wonderful walking trails, fine international cruisine, and luxury hotel suites.

We extended our stay in Dublin with a tour to Northern Ireland. Three hours drive north brought us to one of the most stunning scenes I've ever witnessed. No wonder that the location-scouts for "Lord of the Rings" and "Game of Thrones" used this place as a filming location for there fairytale movies.

The 250 year old Beechtrees must have been part of a hedge and due to lack of maintenance grew like they do now.

Downside to the popularity of this place is the large amount of visitors, which makes it almost impossible to take an image without people in it. I admit that in PS I removed one couple and their photographer from this image.

This bucketlist-location was definitely worth a visit.

Enjoy!

My first jump, ever, in getting my skydiving license. This is from 14 thousand feet!

A very famous spot for land- and cityscape photographers in the Netherlands is this arrangement of colorful harbour houses in Groningen. But since I'm not from around this image has been on my bucketlist for quite some time. Last weekend we were on our way to Eemshaven and I finally had the opportunity to take this image of Reitdiep. My way: It was a sunny day with lots of clouds. Adding a 10 stop ND filter plus a circular polarisation-filter on top of each other I achieved my long exposure for a smooth water surface plus some motion in the sky. The sun brings out all the bright colors of the Scandinavian-looking houses.

I am contented with the result (although I loved a little more movement in the clouds) but hey....: there should always be reason for improvement.

For the rest..........

Enjoy!

Loaded full with cargo the ship Thistlegorm lies on the bottom of Red Sea. A really fun dive. Have you been there?

This was a highlight of my trip home. It was on my bucketlist while there and we got so lucky !

One was in the window on the east side of the old farmhouse, we hadn't seen them yet and as we neared the house we heard a clatter. When we looked we could see one owl through the east window sitting in the west window (those shots did not turn out) .... so the course of action was to disturb them no further and rather than walk around the house and likely have them fly off, we went back to the road and walked up the road a ways. Thankfully I had my 500mm Sigma. These are the shots on a high sun, very hot afternoon on the prairie in Alberta.

I could have stayed there all day watching them.

Seen at the Cincinnati Art Museum while visiting the "Burning Man" exhibit a while back. Caretakers wipe it clean every week or so. Makes one stop and examine the postings. A lot to take in...from funny to very serious. Thought provoking.

Bled was on my bucketlist for a long time.

So we planned a Slovenien vacation with my wife on this summer.

We had a bit unluck with the weather, when we arrived to Bled.

At the first night a huge storm came, and it was raining for 5 days straight. Furthermore, we were camping. We planned to do so many things around Bled but we couldn’t. Most of the time we were just sitting in our tent. It was pretty awful.

On the last day, the storm went away, and we went out to the lake immediately. After the storm it was everything so beautiful.

This story reminds me about life itself. Sometimes we struggle, we keep doing our best, and it seems like there is no result. We have to stay persistent, because sooner or later the storm will go away.

One of my bucketlist in terms of "to see" Malaysian mammals. I am so glad to finally see this species although it's not a "wild" specimen. Taiping Zoo is the only zoo in Malaysia that has wild dogs and is one of the few zoos in South East Asia to successfully breed this species. Kudos to the dedicated staffs in this zoo.

Also known as Asian wild dog, Asiatic wild dog, Indian wild dog, whistling dog, red dog, and mountain wolf.

Location: Peninsular Malaysia.

Distribution: Western Szechuan (China), Mongolia. Southern Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaysia (Malaysia), and Java (Indonesia)

Rarity: Rare

IUCN Red list: Critically endangered

Behavior: According to Heptner and Naumov, (1998) dholes are believed to be more social than gray wolves and exhibit less dominance hierarchy hence their social structure resemble African wild dogs more than wolf (Fox, 1984). They live in clans rather than packs, as the latter term refers to a group of animals that always hunt together. In contrast, dhole clans frequently break into small packs of 3 to 5 animals, particularly during the spring season, as this is the optimal number for catching fawns (Fox, 1984). Dominant dholes are hard to identify, as they do not engage in dominance displays as wolves do, though other clan members will show submissive behavior toward them (Fox, 1984). Group members in-fighting is rarely observed among dhole.

After being told I needed to start a bucket list 4 years ago (2.24.14) - today I starting it...first guitar!

April 8, 2024 - Diamond Ring at the Solar Eclipse Totality, as seen and photographed from Trinity Overlook Park in Dallas, Texas, during the Total Solar Eclipse! This was a Bucket List Photo Shoot and Experience for me! The clouds were thick on Eclipse Day, but thank God for answered prayers, as the clouds moved away and gave us an amazing sight with the Total Solar Eclipse totality!

Amazing moment!

Is the Angkor sunrise on your bucket list? The iconic Angkor sunrise is notoriously more miss than hit, yey still attracts a a few hundred tourists every morning. To gain best view, plan to be at Angkor at 5am at they open then head to one of the reflective pools for a front row position.

I seldom do this with clients unless it's requested. On this particular morning we were heading to an alternative spot for sunrise where almost no tourists go. Looking at the sky, things looked good, some stars and a bit of cloud. I asked my clients if Angkor sunrise was on their 'bucket list'. A swift change of plans, and here's the result. My first shot of the day, a little after 5am.

My absolute bucketlist photo of my recent short visit to Dublin. Can't believe it actually worked out!

Initially I wanted to go on an early-access tour, but was too late with booking it. So I ended up getting an online ticket myself for 08:30 (right at opening time). I got there 30 mins before and was #3 in line. By 08:20, that tour showed up, but had to queue behind me. So missing out on it turned out to be the best thing to happen, as I would've otherwise never had a shot without people in it.

The enormous Castle of Chambord is a wonderful building and another item to cross off our bucket list. The 16th-century castle, the largest and most stately castle in the Loire region, has 440 rooms and 365 towers. There is a 32 kilometer long wall surrounding the 5,500 hectare domain.

Bucketlist item ticked off....as an adult. Apparently I came here as a child, but I don't remember it!

Amazing structure.

Eleven years ago today I completed a lifetime dream of owning a book from the seventeen hundreds. I have always been fascinated by history, and more so the idea and thought of people who lived their day to day lives just like we do- so many, many years ago.

When I look at this book I wonder at all the people who have handled or read this book in the last 225 years- who they were, what inspired them, what they were passionate about… I think that is really what drives my Lifetime Dreams these days –connections and experiences.

Year Eight Of My 365 Project

While out at Death Valley, I was able to make it down to badwater. It is such a cool place, but there were a lot of people there, so we had to hike out a bit father than everyone else to get away from the crowd. After that, we had to find a spot in the ground that would work as a foreground subject. Eventually this round area worked well for me! The sun started to set and the color in the sky was amazing! Unfortunately, most of the color came and went before I could really get a photo off. That said, I am still happy with how this image turned out. I really want to go back again sometime now that I have been there once. Enjoy!

NO ONE

The in the evening, outside office hours almost surreal atmosphere at the Terminus of Amsterdam tramline 25.

A sea of light in deserted buildings, not a living soul in sight - a totally empty double set CAF Urbos fits seamless in a SF- like decor...

November 16, 2017 • Sandy Beach • Honolulu, Hawaii

I have taken a bit a break from Flickr for the past two months but I am back.

CN Tower Edge Walk. 356 meters up (1168 ft), got to walk the 150 meters around the edge of the observation tower with frequent stops and drills for thrills. The ledge is only 3.5 ft which adds to the lovely fright. I have to say this one was the most exhilarating / scary things I've done in a while and loved every second of it. Gives you perspective.
