Fire buckets inside the Harwich Redoubt Fort.
The Harwich Redoubt Fort was built in the early 19th century to protect the town’s harbour from the threat of French attack during the Napoleonic Wars.
The structure was once of the Martello Tower chain of defences which extended Aldeburgh to Seaford, though it never saw active service. The fort subsequently served as military accommodation and was then used as an active base again during the Second World War.
There are a number of guns on the battlements, some more modern than others and some more historically accurate than others, and part of the interior is used to house a military museum.
The site fell into neglect and was eventually restored by the Harwich Society, who still run it and the museum within today, after 1969.
Beni used to love putting this bucket on her head, walking around with it....we would yell BUCKET HEAD!
A scan made in 2005 or 06 from an Ektachrome transparency I had exposed sometime in 1983 with my "New" Canonet QL19. I do remember having uploaded a copy some years back, but I guess that one must have got deleted in one of my several photostream re-arrangement drives.
Evidently someone goofed and forgot to turn off the power. The man in the truck yelled, get a bucket of water! I don't know how that little bucket of water could help.
