People are making bucket panniers using the replacement hanger assembly from Mountain Equipment Co-op (comes to about $13 per bucket - thanks to Steven Gray for coming up with the idea), or the two-bungie version (comes to about $2 per bucket - thanks to David Scrimshaw with this cheap and easy version davidscrimshaw.blogspot.com/2005/09/tricking-out-bike.html). The buckets are free if you collect them from cafes or bakeries.
The MEC bucket ends up being watertight and stable, but you really can't beat the 2 bungie bucket for being accessible and cheap.
I'm not great at golf. I had a bit of a hit on the driving range but reverted to taking pics! I'm a little better at photography than golf!

these buckets were everywhere in kyoto. they were in front of people's houses, all buildings. the old ones were metal, but there were some newer plastic ones too.
This is my favorite boy in the whole wide world... my son. He fits very nicely in the bucket doesn't he? His feet are really not as big as they look - optical illusion!
One would end up being too small for all the grapes that were given to us! A very generous vineyard.
