this just appeared in the washing up bowl and a horizontal film slowly domed as the heat of the water expanded the air trapped inside the glass- it was one of those moments when the camera happened to be at hand because I had been taking caterpillar photos in the garden......seconds later it popped and was gone.
(Bubble glass is an old form of window glass from the time glass was blown in the form of long cylindrical bubbles which were then cut and straightened out to make window pains.....the ends of the bubble showing a pattern of circular thickening were sometimes used to highly decorative effect - this useless bit of information has nothing to do with the picture above.)
No special tricks here. Just some very cool effects with a toy bubble gun and a camera.
When you pull the trigger, bubbles shoot out of the front and colored lights within the gun illuminate them.
It didn't take us long to figure out how cool this was after dark.
This week's word, encounter, describes a surprise or unexpected meeting. I knew i was going to use bubbles to create this photo, but I didn't think it would be possible to catch one. Because of this, actually catching a bubble was like an unexpected meeting.
In this picture, my brother caught a bubble in his hands just like he is meeting it. To create this picture, I used a quick shutter speed in order to capture the bubbles before they popped and a f/stop of about f/5 because the place where this photo was taken is very dark. This picture had a few contour lines (the edges of the bathtub) and there's also a warm feel to it because of the lighting. Also, the bubble causes the light to reflect off of it.
