The town hall is a Victorian gothic revival inspired building covering 2,500 square meters. Home to the local governments over the last 147 years, this grade one listed building is described as having “rare picturesque beauty”. John Wastell, the last and perhaps most brilliant master mason who worked on King's, took charge in 1508. He is the architect of the beautiful fan vaulting – 'the noblest stone ceiling in existence' – which was built in just three years between 1512 and 1515.

The Victoria Memorial, a huge monument made of white marble located in the heart of the City of Joy, is one of the most famous monuments in West Bengal that has become a museum and popular tourist spot of the state.
