Architecture – Modern
This is another collection of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.
Architecture – Traditional
This is another series buildings, built in almost every style, using different materials, from all over Great Britain. Some buildings have been named, but I have made no real effort to find Architects or Designers etc., It’s OK to appreciate the buildings for what they are.
The Shock of the New
This is the continuing series of images entitled ‘Shock of the New’. I’m showing how Modern Architecture has embedded itself with the more Traditional Architectural styles. Some successful, some in my view not so. But we’re all different. You may like them. What It does tell you however, is that progress cannot be stopped. There are forces greater than you out there.

Another great session with my local photography club - learning how to shoot light trails. Not sure I'll make a habit of it, but I was quite pleased with this attempt.
This photo uses long exposure to capture the passage of time and the motion of a historical landmark or moment. The result is an artistic representation that conveys a sense of movement and continuity, offering a unique and immersive visual journey through history.

14th century Vicars Close in Wells. An architectural gem. And a random little girl obligingly ran into my shot and tripped on the cobbles, in precisely the right spot. Vicars Close is just across the road from Wells cathedral. Lovely as the cathedral is, this street impressed me more.
White and black image of a woman walking past the entrance to St Antony's Church in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu, South India. Taken with the Canon 50mm 1.4 lens and converted to black and white in Lightroom.
The Royal Crescent, the glorious Georgian sweep of 30 terraced houses in the British city of Bath, Somerset.
Designed by architect John Wood the Younger and built in Bath stone (limestone) between 1767 and 1774.
The crescent runs for 150 m and has 114 Ionic columns on the first floor with an entablature in a Palladian style above.
In the late 19th century five cast iron lamp columns with decorative scrollwork were added, which try as I might I could not achieve an angle without one in it.
However, it was nice to have the sun push through the clouds on this winter day and light up the stone so beautifully.
The crescent is a Grade I listed building.
No. 1 Royal Crescent is a historic house museum, owned and maintained by the Bath Preservation Trust, to illustrate how wealthy owners of the late 18th century might have furnished and occupied such a house.

A secluded garden, in a bombed out gothic church, in the heart of London. A favourite haunt of mine.
I was fortunate enough to visit and photograph the serenely beautiful St. Dunstan-in-the-East. Steeped in fascinating history, this place, once a cathedral and now a public garden after being ravaged in World War II, truly captivated me. It's a little-known treasure tucked away in England. You can delve deeper into its intriguing story here:

Captured in Greenwich, London, this image frames a stunning 18th-century masterpiece of neoclassical design and architectural ensemble. The right rises the tower dome of the Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul. On the left, the elegant tower dome of the Painted Hall complements the scene. Beyond, the Thames River meanders towards the iconic Canary Wharf skyline.
Heage Windmill, Heage, Derbyshire UK
A little excursion to do something a little different. Here's one from my trip today to Heage Windmill.
Who would of thought that hundreds of years ago, the science of "Airfoil Technologies" was being developed on the ground.
This is a six sail mill - an unusual thing in itself and comes complete with it's own shuttering system - the prior technology was cloth sails that had to be battened during strong winds.
An interesting place and a lovely walk amongst some of Derbyshire's wonderful rolling countryside.
