A shot from the impressive model railroad set up currently in Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha. All the buildings, bridges and tunnels (etc.) are building of natural wood, with bark still attached, giving this an odd "naturalistic" feel mixed with the technology of the trains. It's a very strange addition to the Gardens, but interesting nevertheless.

The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge is an ongoing construction project which consists of a series of bridges and tunnels crossing the Lingdingyang channel that will connect Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai, three major cities on the Pearl River Delta in China. The proposed 50 kilometres (31 miles) link is expected to cost US$10.6 billion (HK$83 billion). With its length, it would become one of the landmarks within the area. The longest bridge section will be 29.6 kilometres (18.4 mi) long and will include three cable-stayed spans between 280 and 460 metres (920 and 1,510 ft). Construction formally began on 15 December 2009.

The tunnel mouth was hemmed in next to the bridge, that carried Leeds Road over the railway.
The semi circular, grey coloured area, on top of the tunnel was inaccessible and so no-one is exactly certain that this is how it looked, or exactly why the bricks on top were built as a curved wall (like half a tunnel vent) This area is of great interest to me, as I can remember walking down Leeds Road after the road bridge sides had been removed, the cutting was filled in and you could actually see inside the tunnel, which had been filled in leaving a space under the roof.
In this view, you can see the shunting signal that was on the wall between the bridge and tunnel.

Ilha da Madeira -
The ER101 leads all the way in one big circle around Madeira.
It is the oldest and most beautiful road of the island. Due to Madeira' s dramatic coast line, the road has many curves, narrow passages and steep climbs and descents.
Many parts of the road have been renewed with bridges and tunnels, allowing most of the island to be in accaptable reach from Funchal. The old ER101 however remains in good condition and is still accessible. Due to the many views on the coast and the Atlantic, this is absolutely the road to be taken by tourists.

Art Wall on Third Exhibition
The Art Collection, 3rd floor
Mid-Manhattan Library
The Art and Picture Collections at Mid-Manhattan Library present Storylights a three-part site-specific exhibition featuring the work of artist Katherine Jackson. The exhibition title conveys the dual nature of libraries: physical structures ("stories") housing the most intangible realities and the endlessly proliferating "stories" that humankind tells itself. Storylights consists of edge-lit or back lit etched glass sculptures and preparatory drawings for the glass pieces. The new work includes large scale abstract images inspired by architectural elements of Stephen A. Schwarzman Building on 5th Avenue and 42nd Street. These combine with previously made text-based work -- which tell or hint at stories -- along with images of bridges (most notably, the Manhattan Bridge). All are lit with LEDs or fluorescent lights. The effect is to suggest the bringing together (“bridging”) of the luminous world of the imagination and the outer world of steel, stone and light.
Artist and 2011 Guggenheim Fellow Katherine Bardford joins Jackson for An Artist Dialogue on December 17 at 2:30 p.m. in the Corner Room on the 1st floor.

The only surviving pony truss bascule bridge in the state of Michigan.
The West Jefferson Avenue – Rouge River Bridge is a bridge located where Jefferson Avenue crosses the Rouge River at the border of Detroit and River Rouge, Michigan (1922). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Bridgetender houses are original. Portions of old cable car fixtures remain, today used as lampposts.
Great Belt, Danish Store Bælt, strait between the Danish islands of Funen (Fyn) and Langeland (west) and Zealand (Sjælland) and Lolland (east). It is about 40 miles (64 km) long and connects the Baltic Sea with the Kattegat (an arm of the North Sea between Jutland [Denmark] and Sweden).
In the late 1980s construction began on the Great Belt Fixed Link, a bridge and tunnel system connecting Zealand and Funen via the small island of Sprogø. The largest engineering project in Danish history, it consisted of the East Bridge, a suspension bridge connecting Zealand and Sprogø that has one of the longest spans (5,328 feet [1,624 metres]) in the world; the East Tunnel, a 5-mile (8-km) railway tunnel; and the West Bridge, a rail and road bridge (4.1 miles [6.6 km]) linking Sprogø and Funen. The tunnel opened in 1997 and the bridges the following year.

URBAN ART MURALISM - ARTIST EXCHANGE in AMSTERDAM
A group of 36 Urban Artists coming from six European countries – Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Italy, France and Austria – took part in the European Art Exchange Project “SH(OUT)!!!” from 18.03.11 to 27.03.11 in Amsterdam.
The main activities included several mural paintings in the city of Amsterdam, an exhibition in the Dokhuis Gallery as well as a common art workshop with local young people.
Nowadays Urban Art has worldwide acceptance as a young art form. Urban Artists form and transform public spaces and present their work, free of charge, throughout the cities. The event gives respect and pays tribute to art from the streets and makes this art form more accessible to a broader audience through various live painting activities in the city, two innovative group exhibitions and workshops.

Today I don't think the Skytrain lines connect to car dealerships. If they did I would say that that is not logical. The Skytrain makes possible the magical teleportation - in space and time - of the so-called "bridge and tunnel" people into the city to experience its wonders - its indie record, book, and clothing stores, its after hours clubs, its house parties filled with more diverse people than you ever imagined as a young kid out there in the burbs. It's magic just walking around in such a place, remember?

I met Paudan and his father Praveen Kumar while they were on a return journey on the Yesvantpur Express to Bantawala. They had attended a Jain wedding in Shravanbelagola.
The scenery on this route is spectacular. The train slowly snakes its way down from the Deccan plateau at an altitude of 900 M through a tropical rain forest before reaching the city of Mangalore on the Arabian Sea. The railroad traverses numerous bridges and tunnels in the Shiradi Ghat.
The journey took 5.5 hours to travel a distance of 122 km from Sakleshpur to Bantawala.

The force of water from the storm rapidly flooded tunnels causing bridges and major highways to shut down. But once the water subsided and the storm eased, most tunnels and bridges in the Tri-State area have reopened to traffic. Meanwhile, rescue workers work feverishly to pump water sitting in the Battery Tunnel. The Midtown Tunnel is still closed It may take several more days before this tunnel reopens says Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
