This brick carving depicts Qilin, a mythic animal of ethnic Han legendary, which represents auspiciousness.
The gathering of costumed models at the Salute church might be the largest such event during Carnevale. There are literally hundreds of models everywhere. It is a great event - photo ops abound, the models are so much fun to shoot with, and I learned a lot from watching the other photographers shooting. Life is good!
I took these photos on 8 February 2018.
We're collecting antique bricks from old family homes for our hearth. These were manufactured in Ferris, Texas. These came from the old North Place house.
