Brick Lane is cool -- especially so on Sunday, when the area is alive with markets. I've never seen a more diverse assemblage of humanity.
Brick Lane is the center of London's Bangladeshi community and all the signs are in English and Bengali. Before that, the area was the home of London's Eastern European Jewish community. It has always been working class.
I don't imagine it will be the same for long. Hipsters and others are everywhere, which usually spells the beginning of a new phase.

At Clivo di Scauro in Rome, ancient brick arches become an interplay of overlapping curves, textures, and earthy colours. Removed from their architectural context, familiar historical elements take on an almost abstract character.
