Tirumala limniace, the blue tiger, is a butterfly found in South Asia, and Southeast Asiathat belongs to the crows and tigers, that is, the danaid group of the brush-footed butterfly family. This butterfly shows gregarious migratory behaviour in southern India. In some places, it may be found in congregations with Danaus genutia, Tirumala septentrionis, Euploea sylvester, Euploea core, Parantica aglea.

This was awkward to shoot. I was sitting there naked and a couple of times people would pass by a couple meters away. So luckily nobody saw me since I had to cover myself every time some was near.

Popularly called the "two-tailed spider", this spider is common in southern India. It lives on the trunks of large trees — including commonly on the trunk of the coconut palm. Its colour closely matches that of the tree trunks in which it lives. It feeds on moths, ants, and other smaller spiders. Its cocoon is generally laid in the holes or crevices of trees. It can be easily identified by its long spinnerets.

A diminutive woodpecker of mixed deciduous forests and gardens, from sea level into mountains. Blackish above, pale with black streaking and buffy-gray wash below. The subspecies in Taiwan (kaleensis) has bold black-and-white head pattern and very little gray in cap. Male's tiny red nape mark often invisible. Most commonly heard calls a weak “wik” and fussy-sounding, descending rattle. (E-bird)

Large gray-brown babbler with piercing yellow eyes. Can be confused with Jungle Babbler, with which it sometimes associates; look for strong dark lores and a darker bill. Favors scrubby areas, forest edge, and open dry forests. Like many other related babblers, typically hops around on the ground in flocks. Chatters persistently; the most common call is a loud, nasal “kaaa-kaaa-kaaa”.

Unmistakable. The only creeper in its range. Spotted and barred overall with long, slender, decurved bill and slightly rounded tail. Found in fairly open deciduous forest as well as in well-wooded country and mango groves, favoring mature trees with deep-fissured bark for foraging. Seen singly or in pairs, rarely in small flocks during the non-breeding season. Song is a complex phrase of clear, plaintive whistles with ascending and descending notes, some short and others longer. Calls are shorter but of similar plaintive quality.
