About Power Brake Service:
We build and Rebuild endless varieties of new and classic brakes for every type of vehicle and trailer. The company was started by George Sweeting in 1950 who worked for the railroads and Lockhead, it is now run by his son Bob Sweeting who learned about modifying cars while drag racing in the 60's, and Bob's son Matt Sweeting (who grew up in all of this) is taking over more and more responsibilities. We were a Warehouse Distributor for Bendix for 20 years until they sold they sold their Power Brake Division to Bosch, which is when we became a special modification contractor with Bosch for their power brakes - which come on most new American vehicles. Our ability to design brake systems, rather than just replace rotors and pads, has taken us to amazing places and we have worked on amazing projects. We have:
Hydro-Boost Conversions
Vacuum Brake - Conversions, Upgrades, and Modifications
Wilwood and Brembo Disc Brake Kits
Master Cylinders
Stainless Braided Hoses
Classic Car / Muscle Car Stock Brake Restoration and Rebuilding (Corvette, Camaro, Chevelle, Mustang, Ford & GM Truck, Mopar, Rolls Royce)
Light Truck / Medium Truck Hydro-Boost Replacement Parts and Conversions
Medium Truck / Heavy Truck Hydro-Max, Air brake, and Air-hydraulic systems - and Hydro-Max Conversions for the obsolete Delco Hypower
Conversions for the obsolete Buick Grand National, T-bird SC, Land Rover, Jeep and all other electric brake booster / electric powermasters
Modified brakes for Altered Bed Fleet Vehicles
Modified sensitivity for the Handicaped
Disc/Drum and Disc/Disc Proportioning Valves
We have worked on everything from propane powered trams to roller coasters, cranes, parade floats, multi engine street rods, classic european cars, double decker buses, and a Freightliner racing truck. Our favorite is working on big engine muscle cars that make too little vacuum and need more stopping power.

We video taped the installation of our air brake conversion on this London Double Decker Bus that's sponsored by Red Bull for their promotional use. The engine and trans were swapped out for new, with an Allison Transmission for reliability. The English brakes were powered off the trans, and had no more power after the trans conversion, so we used a big version of our Airmaster - air over hydraulic unit. there will be more pictures, and the video will be available on www.sweetingmedia.com

Here we replace the nightmare Powermaster unit off the Turbo Regal and replace it with a Hydroboost unit. This job is the same for the Turbo Buick cars, like the Grand National. This one was done on Art Carr's Turbo Regal, and he was sure impressed afterward. You can see the video of the install on PowerBrake Tv, at www.sweetingmedia.com, along with other performance automotive content.

Wheel fitment test with 15" Konig Rewind wheels revealed that the larger S12W vented calipers made contact with the wheel's hub mounting surface. This was remedied by grounding the offending area on the caliper. There was done carefully and slowly, but there was plenty of excess material in the caliper. More pics showing this ahead.
This upgrade starts of with painting of the 1984 Nisan 300ZX front and rear disc brake rotors to minimize visible corrosion but still allow for heat dissipation. The braking surfaces were masked off and the rest was coated with flat black hi-temp header paint.

Getting the right length bolts is key. In the setup on the left, note that the bolts stop just short of protruding through the wheel mounting surface of the hub. Leave out the lock washer, and they will protrude. This will obviously be a problem when mounting the wheels if you overlook this detail.
