The Tucson Sidewinders have their Spring training here for now. I like to go to their games and cheer!
During brain surgery for CAR-T therapy a tumor will be excised with the help of a computer-generated brain mapping system; and a thin tube, attached to a tiny well, will be nestled in the patient's brain tissue. In two weeks, through these instruments will flow genetically modified T cells, called chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) — a type of immunotherapy designed to dampen the progression of microscopic tumor cells peppering B.’s brain.

This photo was taken March 30 - the day before we left for Georgia. We were actually supposed to leave this day but Bailey hadn't been feeling well enough the day before and I just couldn't pull myself away. I had to see her beautiful smile before we left - and I was glad that I did.
She had another surgery about a week later to remove the grids and a little piece of her brain. All of her check-ups have been positive and she had been seizure free since the second surgery. Amazing.
Jim just had brain surgery after falling on his boat dock and hitting his head. He got home from the hospital today and Josh had such a calming and theraputic effect on his master.

During surgery there is a staccato back-and-forth between Badie and Dormel Abea, a neurodiagnostic technician responsible for administering an electrical current to the patient’s brain. This exchange helps determine the location of the “eloquent cortex,” an important area of the brain that controls motor, sensory and speech functions; and the surgical margin.
