Discover the intricate anatomy of a red cabbage as it is cut in half and shaped like a human brain. The dark background and contrasting light above the red cabbage highlights the intricate details of the vegetable's structure, making it a unique and educational visual representation of the human brain.
Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - this building was designed by architect Frank Gehry at the behest of Larry Ruvo in memory of his father Lou Ruvo who was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. It opened in 2007, and it has a large event center which hosts fund raising events featuring performing artists. Proceeds from these events are used for Alzeimer's research.

Still using the 15 day demo of Silver Efex Pro and liking this app a lot! I used the Structure High setting and some minor tweaks in contrasts, shadows, highlights, and structure to get this one rolling and barely tweaked and peaked in CS4. I also added a little bit of noise/grain in Silver Efex on the building to make the textures and imperfections on the metal panels come out a little more.
**This building is the Lou Ruvo Cleveland Clinic for Brain Health. Designed by world renowned architect Frank Owen Gehry.
Here is the link to NIK Softwares' Silver Efex Pro if anyone would like to try out the 15 day demo: Silver Efex Pro
The Cleveland Clinc- Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is opening in Las Vegas later this month. The building is a Frank Gehry design.
My typical window driving shot (at the stoplight - quick one) and I def need to upgrade my camera... I was thinking the D600 which is more in my budget and less mega pixels than the other... I'm truly aware it's mostly the operator and not the equipment... I'm Not ranting Just sliding! :)

The Pointe hosted a free, informational seminar on bones and brain health. Presented by local physician, Dr. Humaira Khan, she covered the importance of Vitamin D and calcium in helping to prevent osteoporosis (thinning of the bones) as well as the basics of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.
Standing before a full house, with both residents and those from the general public, Dr. Khan first covered the topic of bone health, including the importance of exercise and a diet complete with plenty of calcium and Vitamin D. She encouraged the residents to get checkups regularly so that they may be able to detect the all too common osteoporosis. With no symptoms, the only way to determine if you have the disease is to be tested for it. If detected in the early stages, it can be prevented altogether and/or controlled. It is because of osteoporosis that a simple fall can lead to more serious issues, even death for older adults. The disease eats away at the bones, causing them to become thinner and brittle and easily broken in a simple fall.
Once she had finished her presentation on bone health, Dr. Kahn answered questions from the audience. Afterward, she gave a second presentation on brain health, focusing on dementia. Dr. Kahn described all of the different forms of dementia and their causes/effects. She stressed the differences between natural memory loss that comes with aging and that of someone with dementia, such as Alzheimer's disease. As she did with bone health, Dr. Kahn reinforced preventative measures, such as diet and exercise, to ward off the onset of Alzheimer's or slow it down at the least.
Associated with the MetroSouth Medical Center in nearby Blue Island, Dr. Kahn is accepting new patients from The Pointe and plans to be holding office hours here in the near future. We are all proud to have Dr. Kahn, who specializes in family medicine and gerontology, on our team as well as strengthening our relationship with MetroSouth Hospital.

As always, The Pointe honored Senior Fitness Day with a full schedule of activities for the body, mind and spirit! This year, the residents started off with Disco Bofy Flex, followed by a group walk. Throughout the day, residents logged on and used the Dakim Brain Fitness program. The schedule ended with Chair Tai Chi in the afternoon. We are happy to report a large turn out for all of the activities. Certificates were given out to participants along with pedometers after the final activity, along with frozen yogurt bars.

There are 6 different factors affecting the health of your bones.
1. Connective tissue/collagen -- this is a tissue in the bone that must be strong for it to be strong.
2. Minerals -- the right minerals are a must for strong bones.
3. Essential Fats
4. Hormones -- our hormones effect how strong our bones are.
5. Muscles/Exercise -- when we use our body the stress stimulates bone growth.
6. Toxins & Metals -- Toxins and metals are everywhere in our world and they can interfere with our bodies ability to build strong bones. This is why I highly recommend detoxification.
Now you can see just taking calcium does not work to build bones.. The calcium is one part however the other parts must also be addressed for your bones to be strong.

Did you know that your bones are alive.
There are cells that break down bone and there are cells that create new bone. How strong your bones are depends on whether your body has all the nutrients, all the raw ingredients it needs to build strong healthy bones.
This is why it is so important that we get all the right nutrients into our bodies, that we address the six factors that go into supporting our bone so that our bones have the best chance of staying strong year after year. We need to get the right minerals, the right essential fats, we need all the nutrients, all the building blocks so that our little bone building cells, the osteoblasts can do their job and build strong bones.
