So I finally finished a batch of mosaics. Have a few more that should be ready soon. I always wait for the grout to set for a couple of days before I put a clear coat on them. This is a trinket box.
9.5” x 5.75” x 3.25”.
Hand woven from Rattan in Hapao style.
Finished with a coating of clear lacquer.
Holds standard rectangular tissue box.
The boxes on the hillside are some of them bright orange. In the shade they are green. I like box a lot, even though its smell hovers on the edge of being like cats' pee, it is one of my favourite plant smells.
The first kite I made on a sewing machine with ripstop nylon.

Great flyer in very light winds.
Photo taken by my son.
Another fun box camera that I picked up for a couple of bucks. After a thorough cleaning , everything seems to be working fine on this beauty, even though the front shows some wear! I tried to find some info on this baby and this is what I found...
Agfa Ansco was located in Binghamton, New York and produced box cameras from 1928 until it was seized by the United States government in 1941. D-6 Shur-Shot took either eight or sixteen photos and used D6 Agfa film (116 Eastman). It had built-in wings allowing full or half-size pictures, two diaphragm openings, built-in yellow filters, and a waist-level viewfinder.

Left: Purchased from a garage sale 10 years ago for $5. I believe it's from the 1970's. It's pretty hefty and I suspect it's made of lacquer.
Right: Gift from my Mom about 20 years ago. This bento has "feet" and no seals so it's more of a "eat at home" type of box. I've used this for work and I tie it with a furoshiki to keep it closed.
I bought a chair...and it came with this great box. :) I just had to use it somehow, I am still unable to recycle it. There may yet be photo possibilities.......
All the "goodies" removed from the box, which include:
- KBC Poker X keyboard
- Black USB cable
- Black Ring-Style Key Puller
- User Manual

Seen by the War Memorial in Llandrindod Wells it is astonishing how quickly this once essential piece of street utility has become virtually redundant. I was sixteen years old before we had a telephone at home and we used our nearest box which was ten minutes walk away on rare occasions. My parents still corresponded by letter, using postage stamps. That all changed when I started earning and had the domestic phone connected. Of course.
