I purchased this file on svgcuts. It used a lot of card stock, but was simple enough to make. I used it for the Family Sweets Jar I made (see previous pictures), which is pretty heavy and delicate, so I had to add some cardboard on the bottom for support. Finished box with gift inside is about 9.5" cubed.
Decided the other day to work on other things, but I have this one hanging around....
Crease pattern available.

"And the people in the houses
All went to the university,
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same,
And there's doctors and lawyers,
And business executives,
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same"
Box-O-Ranch in the eastern portion of the Soda Mountain Wilderness. The Omnibus Public Lands Management Act of 2009, Public Law No. 111-011, Section 1405, designated 24,100 acres of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument as wilderness. The Soda Mountain Wilderness encompasses the rich biological and geological diversity in the mountains southeast of Ashland, Oregon. The new wilderness lies on the south side of the Medford District. The heart of the wilderness is the 5,720-foot high Boccard Point where the great basin meets three mountain ranges. The older Klamath Range comes up from the south while the much younger Siskiyou Range extends from the west. Jutting up from the north is the very young Cascade Range.
Additional information about the Soda Mountain Wilderness, and all the other BLM Wilderness areas in Oregon/Washington, is available online at:
The previous owner of this house had made a planter box from treated 2x12s around a back yard tree. The tree grew and pushed the box apart so I replaced the planter with a larger box made of Cedar.
I used box joints with half inch pins to assemble the new planter. The new box was more than four feet on two sides, I had to move the table saw to the driveway because the boards clamped to the carriage hit the roof trusses.
Box following same design as the tessellation.
Tant paper, 24x24 cm, 32 division grid.
Bottom, red lizard hide paper.

Here we see the very traditional looking Rigton Signal Box. It was built in 1873 and is a NES1a design of box. The box has 6 levers:
1 = Down Home
2 = Down Distant
3 = Spare
4 = Up Distant
5 = Up Home
6 = Gate Locks
This box also has inboard distant levers which means that the levers are in the order they are pulled off rather than in the order that the driver will see them. This was common across the LNER another example of this would be Oxmardyke.
All signals controlled by the box are colour lights and the level crossing barriers are worked from a gate wheel inside the box.
The box works Absolute Block to Harrogate and Horsforth Signal Boxes. The box was originally a Gate Box but as other Signal Boxes along the line were closed it became a block post.
Unfortunately along with Horsforth, this box will probably have been closed by the end of 2012 with all control going to a new panel at Harrogate signal box. This is part of the resignalling that will see the closure of all boxes between Leeds and York via Harrogate within the next few years with control eventually all going to York IECC and York IECC is going to close when the new Rail Operating Centre at York opens. This will be 1 of 14 regional operating centres proposed by Network Rail to replace over 800 signal boxes nationwide.
Well, tomorrow morning we are off to Florida to visit the grandkids. Well, we're actually off to Savannah, GA first for two days, then to Jacksonville, FL to see the grandkids, then down to St. Augustine for New Years, and a final stop in Chattanooga, TN to stay on the Delta Queen...our favorite ship/hotel. It's going to be a busy 8 days! :) I'll pop in occasionally but guess that I'll be kept pretty busy. So I'll have LOTS to catch up on when I get back.
Have a happy and safe New Year's everyone!!!! :)
fluxusbox.artisopensource.net/
Fluxus boxes were intended as non linear narratives to be handled, touched, performed, disseminated, destroyed, reassembled, counted and reconfigured.
Just as cinema montage and music had learned, the orchestration of symbols, visions and other sensorial components was able to create novel scenarios. Interactivity and tangibility created a state of continuous recombination, multiplying interpretation and cognitively activating people, who became part of the artwork while handling, imagining and communicating. The connection with the ordinary flow of life created new dimensions in the world: stratified, recombinant and engaging.
In occasion of the 50 years of FLUXUS we have decided to research on this wonderful form of expression, both for the innovation it has provided in the arts and for its connection with many of the mutation processes that are going on with contemporary humanity and their ability to experience media, communicate and interact.
At the event Mercoledì da NABA series of events, on December 15th 2010, we will hold a workshop/performance in which we will build a Fluxus Box using Augmented Reality and other cross-medial techniques and technologies.
The ojective will be to research on the Fluxus Box approach, and to appy it at a “meta” level. The objects contained in the box will be tools through which the experience of multiple Fluxus Boxes will be holdable, remixable, juxtaposable, recombinable, enacting a meta-performance encompassing possibly infinite remixed reenactments of Fluxus performances, experiences and events.
The box we will produced will be donated to the NABA, and the custom software that will be created for the occasion will be released under a GPL2 licensing scheme, so that it will be usable by artists, students and practitioners worldwide, in a further level of the performance.

The Boxee Box powered on.
The logo is quite distracting. If you put it next to your TV and watch something in a dark room, it's extremely distracting. Thankfully you can shove it out of sight since it uses RF for the remote (which is what I've done with mine), but it's a bit annoying since it's kinda cool to look at and it would be nice to keep it out and on display.
This photo shows the Boxee Box switched on - if you put it into sleep mode it dims the logo a bit, and when it's switched off completely, the logo is also switched off.

Poppy Post Boxes in Lydiate, Sefton. Remembrance Day tributes to those that served. (Normally called "Yarn Bombing" but not an appropriate phrase this time!)
I assembled each pair of sides and bored a 3/8 hole all the way down through the pins. Then I used a 12 inch long galvanized nail to hold the joint together at each corner. There is no glue.
Exhibit A
What's it called when you hold something in your hand and relive whatever experience that thing symbolizes? Right: weird.
I have something I call a "gross things box." And it's filled with what most people think are gross things. Maybe it's that teeth don't belong outside your head once you've grown up, and I have my grandparents' dentures, my four wisdom teeth, a broken tooth, and a broken crown.
I've saved a pad from one of my dogs and three claws. I have ten staples from back surgery and the thumbnail from the time I sliced off the tip of my thumb with a mat knife (17 stitches to sew it back on). That thing smiling behind the stitches and in front of the dentures? That's my daughter's umbilical cord. It turns into a rock. I've heard some people make jewelry with it.
I bet you're sorry you didn't save some of these things.
I bet you wonder why I did. I wish I could tell you.
But I wrote a poem about it once, and it was published by Junk: a literary fix.
Quiescence
she and I will pour with nonchalance the contents of this marble box: three dog whiskers, the fang of a tarantula, her dried umbilical cord, pinched and blue like a stone, the orange feather of a friend’s fancy bird, grammy’s shimmering silver bridge, my own four wisdom teeth, and a few good misspelled fortunes, delighting in your awkward squirm as something animal rolls across the ripples in the couch and touches your naked thigh.
she saved the cord! you’ll say to them later, as if we are somehow broken, this well-practiced list your new soliloquy against a mother and her girl, but we are all tethered to our treasures, and who’s to judge the things we save: the care with which you dig the dahlia corms and tuck them in a burlap sack, the flowers that you paralyze in books, the seeds you squeeze in envelopes. who’s to judge a box of lonely things we couldn’t bring ourselves to lose?

I was figuring a box with 45 degree edges and came up with these, only one problem, cant figure the bottom part. You can make these with two dollars and three dollar bills. If you want you can use up to six dollars for the hexagonal. Easy to fold and assemble.
Found these unpainted wooden boxes at Dollar The. gnomes are laser cut-outs. Box is 6 3/4" square & 3 1/8" deep. Oct. 2021.
From a circle of 60 lb. (89 gsm) parchment. It opens when you pull the petals.
I'm aware that Flower Top Pentagonal Box is a lame-ass name for this and I'm willing to change it if anyone can say what flower this looks like.
An excellent candidate for mass production with a laser cutter, by the bye.
