This is Ruby, my neighbour's young, and very excitable(!) boxer who just wouldn't stay still for a second. Apparently my hands make a fantastic chew. Didn't get this quite as sharp as I wanted but hopefully we'll have another session together when Ruby is a bit calmer(!) .

Me, Luke, and his little cousin Kiarian found this puppy by chance today. We were driving home from getting ice cream. We took a different way than we have ever taken, and almost didn't go that way at all. But luckily, out of the corner of Luke's eye, he saw a little dog running around the front of a closed down business front when we were just a minute from his street. He almost didn't say anything. Then he said all of a sudden, "Brit, I think I saw a little dog back in that parking lot, it had a leash on but no-one was with it." So we decided I should turn around and go check on it. To be honest, we could all sense that something wasn't right because we knew all those stores on that strip were closed and not popular anyways. I pulled into the parking lot but it was nowhere to be seen. We pulled around back, and sure enough, right next to an open dumpster, was this tiny little skinny puppy, with a pink leash and collar, was sitting on ripped up newspaper in a corner of the back of the building, barking at the sky.
My heart broke in two.
I could tell immediately it had been dumped.
As soon as we stepped out, I knelt down and she ran her little heart out to me and literally jumped up into my arms and furiously licked my face.
My heart broke again.
She was very skinny, and I could tell she had fleas, and had been here for at least hours, maybe even day or two.
She was sitting next to the back door of a closed business by an open dumpster. The scenario appeared as if she had been hooked to the door handle and left there for the business owners to find her the next business day.
It was completely God that we took that way home, and that Luke saw her out of the corner of his eye, and that we took the time to investigate. There are no houses around that block of shops. It is in front of a storage place, an industrial park, and two hotels. We went to both hotel and asked about her. Nobody heard anything about a puppy. I left my info with them just in case. But I am not hopeful that someone is looking for this little sweetie.
How. I don't understand. She is the sweetest little girl.
We brought her home and hung out outside with her for a long time. We fed her a little bit of food, and gave her plenty of water. She fell asleep on me in the car on the way home. Kiarian, Luke's little cousin, and his brothers and his mom have decided to hold on to her until we figure out if she is indeed missing. Otherwise, this little girl just found a loving home with these four boys (Luke's cousins). They live a small walk away in the trailer park across the train tracks from Luke's house.
I didn't let Fender meet her because she had fleas and obviously had not been taken care of or had shots yet.
So, my guess is that she is a boxer mixed with either lab or german sheperd....
What do you all think???
I will keep everyone posted.
As heart-breaking as it is that this happened, my heart is pretty full of joy knowing that she is safe now, and will have a loving home, and is so close to us, and will be friends with Fender.
I will probably be at their house everyday helping them.
We recently lost our 7-year-old boxer, Caesar to a sudden and unexpected heart attack.
We managed to get in touch with some great people in North Georgia who happened to have a 6-week old white male boxer puppy.
Within an hour of contacting them, we made arrangements and my family and I drove nearly 3 hours last night to meet our newest family member! We named him Thor. He is such a sweetie!
We know that Thor will not replace Caesar but it's nice to have a furry friend again.
